except to give your name and address and ask to phone your lawyer.

Do you have a lawyer or retainer?  If not, ask around in the business for who is good on prostitution cases and sign him (or her) up.  It's worth the investment.

This board is as good a place as any to find out info on the law and the hobby, but with some research on the web, you can find out more.  You can learn a lot by chatting with your attorney for an hour as well.

That all being said, the best way to avoid facing LE is to screen, screen, and then screen again.  Don't fall for any tricks or let guys tug at your heart strings.  If they don't follow the drill, just hang up, it's just not worth it.

Also, don't fall for the cops' tricks.  They are allowed to lie to you.  (But don't you ever lie to them!)  They may say that if you cooperate and give them all the info they want, they'll let you go with a warning.  That is BS.  All you're doing is making their job easy for you.

Again, if you are confronted with LE.  Remain calm. Speak politely always.  Give them your name and address, and then request a lawyer to be present before you say anything else. If they ask if they can search the place, politely decline their offer. It is your constitutional right and they can't take that from you.  It is also the best way to convince LE that unless they got you dead to rights, they will be wasting their time with you and might as well let you go.

For you hobbists that may face LE, the same rules follow.  Say nothing!

(still not a lawyer)

The best thing you can do is shut up, ask for an attorney thereby stopping the interrogation.

Cops like to intimidate people, its a good Le tool to get people to "spill the beans".  Le is taught this at the polcie acadamies across the USA.

There is no benefit to you talking to cops and even if they offer you some kind of a "deal?", they do not have authority to bind the State/Government.  You have to get your attorney to work that out with the DA/AUSA if that's even ncecessary. If you tell the cops everything you know/they want, then you get tossed on the trash heap!

I agree with mrfisher, just shut the fuck up!

That's what I've been instructing my clients for 30 years.  I cannot think of an single instance where it is ever in your best interest to talk to any cops when you are the focus of any invetigation they are conducting.

Believe me on this!

The best thing to do is to get your lawyer lined up in advance.  Find a criminal defense lawyer who works in this area.  Ask around.  Then meet him/her and explain your situation.  Then carry his/her card with you.  If you are going to be a provider then you need to plan in advance.  It is madness not to.

The lawyer can then give you guidance as to what to do in your area, which will be some variation on "say nothing and call me."
