According to this Detroit Free Press article, the attorney was given access to the 248 and 586 area codes (Oakland and Macomb counties) -- he had been restricted to 734 and 313 only (Wayne county, which includes the city of Detroit) -- so this now gives him access to the entire tri-county area (the most populous in Michigan). Now, however, he wants the court to grant him access to the whole enchilada, the entire book.

There is one way I've seen posted for providers to fight fire with fire and end the explotation of this tactic.  Providers should just research the names of their local officials - city councilmen, police chief, state's attorneys, judges, prominent lawyers and judges; then for each, add their name and telephone to your black book - regardless of whether or not they visit you - then if the book is ever seized this reduces its viability as evidence (imagine the embarassment if at trial a listing is used aginast someone but the defence lawyer also lets th jury see that the judge and prosecutors name is also listed); it also may reduce the chance of any exposure since even if the authorities see that it contains some false entires, they won't know which are which, and will be reluctant to release it and expose innocents.
