When I started this hobby I promised myself I'd not do anything stupid...  Thanks to TER, my knowledge has increased many times over.  Some of my early adventures were unduely risky, maybe even bordering on the stupid.  But I have evolved my participation to a less risky style.

A bunch of people will have the benifit of that knowledge, however painfully learned.

I've worked in academia!!!  I've been a tutor, a reader, a TA, and I've even taught a few courses!!!  The last thing you need is to have your hobby life identified with you academic life!!!  It is a career killer!!!

You know how the public thinks - a nursing school adviser, who work with many smart young women, some of whom are lovely, he must be encouraging into  his sideline, escort site!!!

Working on campus can be fun and exciting, and I am not talking about sex at all!!!  Some kids, you just want to say GROW UP, others, hey, I never saw it that way!!!

But if you ever find yourself one of these roles, PLEASE behave, and recognize the implied trust, even if she isn't a minor.  For your own good, keep your hobby life separate from work life.
