LE personnel, posing as providers and providing phoney references has happened in the past for stings in several different cities (Chicago, Detroit, Seattle, San Diego, among others) that I've heard of. These stings and the LE tactics used were reported on in local newspapers.
I always make wanna-be clients give me references. My question is this: How likely is it that LE would have say other female LE to pretend they are references-would they go to the trouble of putting up a website/email address/phone number? Ive always felt safe by asking for and verifying clients by their references but this nasty thought entered my head the other day.
I can put up a website in just a few minutes. Why not LE? They wouldn't have to create one especially for you. They could be trying to catch clients and providers alike. I wouldn't trust any website as a reference unless I could verify it's for real.

Also, when I worked for an agency a few years back I remember that any new client that walked in the door had to first show 2 forms of ID-a drivers license and a credit card with their name on it. If no credit card, then car insurance papers with their name on it.In your opinion, was this a good idea or could LE get around that somehow?
Cops have drivers licenses and credit cards just like anyone else, and they don't have "police officer" printed on them. Likewise, they could easily have business cards made with their name on it, and for any kind of business. Same for company ID cards with photos. It's not hard to get that kind of stuff. I should also emphasize that not all cops fit the stereotype macho guy with the short haircut/moustache combo. The long-haired biker and Japanese businessman are just as likely to be LE as the ones who "look like cops." I don't know if there is any foolproof way of screening for LE outside of personal references FROM SOMEONE YOU ACTUALLY KNOW (and follow up on those references too!).
When it comes to provider references, they need to be from KNOWN providers or I will not accept them. The girl has to have the website, a paid ad somewhere, and reviews (more than a couple) on this board or one of the many others out there. CL and Cityvibe erotic service postings are not acceptable for me. Sure this makes it harder, but I would rather be safe than sorry.
