  I am just starting out and just wanted to protect myself, any advice would be great. I don't have any legal representation at this time. Planning a trip to Sin City and if something happens I want to be prepared. Any suggestions on selecting legal representation would be grateful. Thanks.

Tell them that you are in need of a lawyer who is familiar with criminal law regarding prostitution.  They'll give you a list of lawyers in the area who have such experience.  You can then call their offices and ask for a no-fee consultation to see whom you'd most like to represent you.

Ask about fees for a retainer, and fees in general, and also for references.  Check the references too.  I'd go for the guy with the most experience.

Ask about situations where you are out of state.  If he is not admitted to the bar of Nevada, for example, can he direct you to someone in Nevada who can assist you?

Do your homework here, including reading the Las Vegas board.  You will not need an attorney if you have done your homework; your asking the question makes it obvious that you have failed to do so.

1)  While mrfisher is often correct, his thought that bar referral services will have lists of attorneys who specialize in prostitution is probably not correct.  It is not correct  for Clark County (link below), which merely lists "criminal law".

2)  Most lawyer referral services give you the name of one attorney, not three.

However, when you have someone on the line, they often are up on the specialties of various attorneys, and therefore can give you more information.

Also, if the bar association will only give out one (In Mass they will give out several depending on the circumstances.), there's nothing stopping you from calling back later and asking again.

By the way, I know someone very near to me who worked at the Mass Bar Association, and they confirmed this information to me.

Any licensed attorney can get on those list, and frankly the best ones don't bother - you are better off to check around some of the reputable legal rating services - Martindale.com (look for a criminal law attorney who has an "av" rating), check websites such as Best lawyers in America, super lawyers, then look for those who focus on criminal law - but donr just trust those, also visit the attorney/firm websites and read the profiles of the individual attorney - your best bet is likely to be someone who worked in the prosecutors office for 3-10 years and is now out in private practice.  Be specific as to the jurisdiction - pick someone with experience in the city or county where your case will be heard.
