Deleting Information

As a provider I have some regular clients that I see a few times a month.

I do have a trak phone but I saved their numbers. I do delete text messages regularly.

My question is...If I was to get busted (knock on wood i dont) but IF i was.

Would they be safe? or Should I just write down their numbers somewhere and delete them out of my phone?

It is easier for me to have them saved for when they do call or text...but If worse came to worse I would rather be the only that goes down then to bring anyone else with me.

Does that make sense?

Any help or info would be great. Thankx
Cherry

as far as i kniw i dont think they could ever prove anything by whos called you, i dont think u have to delete the numbers or worry bout that happenin. they could just be friends of yours or you coulda been buying a used couch off them even and thats why youd called them . i would say the numbers are safe in phone.

to use a burn phone when calling you. The presence of their phone number on your phone isn't incriminating, although there's a remote chance the cops may use it for a "fishing" attempt.

download all the info on one's cell phone with the click of a button. This technology has previously been used by DHS, CIA, FBI but now is readily available to local LE departments and is getting cheaper by the day.

To answer your question:

No. Any information on your cellphone including those of your clients is not safe.

You, all providers and hobbyists as well should be deleting call and text records from phones asap.

Now deleting the info doesn't make you "safe" because LE can easily subpoena records from the phone provider but this takes time, money and LE is unlikely to go through that much trouble for a petty crime. The trick is to make things as difficult as possible for LE to get the information they desire by putting up common sense roadblocks and making them follow the legal process. Don't leave meaty, juicy info like phone numbers, texts and emails out there in the open for them to just eat up.

There is no such thing as requiring a warrant or cause to perform searches anymore. Court rulings in several states and jurisdictions have given LE broad powers with regards to warrant less search and seizure and admissibility of evidence in court cases. The only protections you have anymore are to exercise your miranda rights, fifth amendment rights and to not ever talk to LE without the presence of a competent attorney. There are a few instances where it is prudent to cooperate with LE but the hobby is not one of them for the most part.

It is very nice of you to be concerned, but it doesn't matter what you keep on your phone.

The phone company can recover every call made or received.  If they have the phone number, even without the phone, Sprint can tell what calls were received, what calls were made, what calls went to voice mail, and where the calls came from. (I know Sprint can do that, and I assume that AT&T can as well.)

I know of  murder case where they had the defendant's girl-friend's phone and she got a call from the defendant cell phone a short distance from where the murder occurred 10 minutes after the murder.  That was all done with company records, with no reference to what was saved on her phone.

On one hand, you need to be able to ID repeat customers.  A log book or journal is much more dangerous, in LE hands.  I'd rather you deleted all the address book but would understand if you chose to keep first names & numbers.
On the other hand, I have my hobby phone & delete everything before I leave the location.  If it falls into the wrong hands be it LE or a spouce...  at least I did not make it easy.   The annoyance is I must go to your web sire to get your phone to make the calls because theyt are deleted.

Probably texts & emails are the most dangerous.  Delete at once since likely your laptop will be a your locatrion.

Don't keep records that are potentially incriminating...  just don't.   In most jurisdictions this is a petty crime.  LE may gather any info that is laying arround but LE will not go to great lengths & expend a lot of energy unless someone is high profile or a more serious crime has been committed.

They might get phone calls and get questioned. However, their name being on the list does not mean jack without audio or video recordings.
Also, DO NOT EVER discuss about SEX over the phone or email. If that can be obtained by the local LE or FBI, you will be toast!  It happened to Eliot Spitzer, although none of us are probably as famous as him...

But that could have been the best thing to happen to me in the hobby. Also I am on a hobbyist watch list, but who cares?

Just create an anonymous free email (and yes you can find these outside the US and US court subpeona authority) and store the names, numbers (without any more detail than is necessary) in the contact features - then don't write it down anywhere, just remember it in your head.  That way its preserved, but very unlikely to be found.

This isn't new technology. Let's just say I worked for a company that did these types of investigations
