There is only one good reason to go to Vegas.  It's not the Wynn and you gave her a 10/10.  Enjoy.

According to the newspaper, all chips in the casino have embedded radiofrequency devices that track your play regardless of where you are.  The chips are linked to you by the ID data on your electronic room key.  That's a little unsettling.  I wonder if they can follow you throughout the hotel.

that does not make sence.  chips are tossed around to much and would damage the chip inside easily.  Also that would serve no purpose for non guests of the hotel who play there.

SeekingGFE,

As part of my job I work on the systems such as Wynn installed. Your play is tracked at the table but it is not linked to your room key and they cannot track you through the casino. Your play is tracked (buy in, avg bet & cash out) for the player tracking system only if you join thier players club. The more advanced systems will also monitor for correct play & payouts by the dealer.

I think its highly unlikely that they could trace an individual chip to a person, unless you walk through/under a reader and they read chip #xyz and Hotel ID keycard #ABC at the same time.

Unless they're requiring you to show your hotel room ID every time you buy a chip....?

I can see doing this to avoid chip fraud, and even to be able to track play at a particular table, maybe even to track chips given on credit to a particular player....to see what you're playing, when and how much at a time.  That could make tracking comps much easier.

More than that sounds like the TV series "Las Vegas"....

However, check out the URL below....

So, if you pay the provider with gaming chips, will they know that you were together?

For LV locals, the reaction has been a little underwhelming:

The Mirage was Wow!
The Bellagio was Whoa!!
Wynn is like uh-huh, as if you were expecting more.

But everyone still needs to check it out for themselves.

Has anyone played poker at the Wynn yet?  I heard it's supposed to have a state-of-the-art room.  I'm headed to Vegas next month, and I was wondering whether the games are as juicy at the Wynn as they are some at some of the other spots on the Strip.

Seems like Wynn just recreated the Bellagio - that was his ultimate project and I'm sure he wasn't happy when MGM did their takeover.

Similarities:
Indoor flowers
High end shops
Water-based Cirque De Soleil-like show

Pain in the butt to get too - the monorail stop isn't all that close - and traffic is just evil

If you don't believe me, here is a link to the article in the Review-Journal and a quote from the article.

"All table games use state-of-the-art Radio Frequency Identification chips that assist the casino in surveillance, as well as tracking each player's action. Many knowledgeable players hope chips like these are not the wave of the future."

Poker room is alright 5-10 no limit is a soft game so I liked it. 40- 80 stud is also good. As far as  the room it was built for 20 tables and they put 27 in there so it is too crowded. The list is up on screens so you can see where you are at.
Bellagio remodeled and it is beautiful. Also MGM you have got to check it out. So many fish!!

See you soon!

Hey Kadi!  The Borgata in AC has those electronic lists as well, but I heard that the Wynn was also going to give people pagers so that you don't have to sit around the poker room to know when you've reached the top of the list.

The MGM was one poker room that I didn't hit on my last trip, and so I'll have to check it out this time.  I'm definitely going back to the Bellagio, too...  I'm determined to beat that $8/$16 game that mugged me last time.

BTW, I took your advice and have taken a break from limit games to play in more NL ring games lately.  It's been working out pretty well.

I hope the cards have been good to you, too.  Take care!

They are referring to the Red Carpet card that has an embedded chip which can track just about all your spending activities - hence "state of the art". There are NO RF devices installed in the casino chips. It's not practical.

They are giving you a pager so you don't have to sit in the poker room & wait. Also if you are staying at the Wynn you can watch the list from your tv in your room.
