I made an appt with a local provider in LV that I have seen in the past.  
When I arrived in LV got a text canceling our multiple hour appt without any real explanation. Without a backup plan it was too late plan anything else. Oh well.

Instead of throwing your self a "pity party" start making a back up plan.
After all your already here , start making some phone calls , you never know your luck can change.
Also you can text your local provider back and ask very politely if it isn't too much trouble for her to recommend some one she knows. Personally I think she should have offered that to you since she already knows you.
but that's me.
Maybe now it's too late , but it wasn't that late when you posted.
Hope you didn't go to bed horny.
lesson learned - don't double book, but it's ok to have some numbers as a back up plan.

Most likely that situation wouldn't happen as I would only cancel if I got sick........and that only happens once, maybe twice a year.( knock on wood lol lol )
and I would still offer to help with back up plan , especially if we had already met before ( as in I am 110 % sure you are  a good and safe client.........of course if I was willing to rebook you that means you are on my "white list" ..... Don't worry the list is in my head , not on paper

Now that I'm back home, I just want to expand further on my choices that night. Now this is just me, and no one else. I was just in LV for two nights, three days attending some conferences and my appt with X was scheduled for one of the nights. The other night was taken by some other social functions and the days were rather full with business. So the blue balls didn't really hit me until the night I posted.

Before I left a I did do some back up research and created a short list of alternatives, (I choose a companion like a President chooses a Supreme court nominee) but I didn't bring it with me for two reasons, 1) I didn't expect to be canceled, 2) Everyone on the list would want to screen me and there just would not be enough time and discretion to for some one to do it on a short notice.

You suggested that perhaps X should have helped me find a replacement or maybe act as a last minute reference but my spidery sense told me to stay away.

I can imagine two solutions to this problem,
1) See some different companions while in LV so that if something falls thru I can call some else.
2) Be verified thru one of the verification services but I'm reluctant to hand over that much info about myself to them.

Huh? Stay away from what ?? you rebooked a provider that you have seen before.
So I would think that means you enjoyed your time with her .
Then SHE cancels on you. So what is wrong with asking her to help find a friend ?
Will she get mad ? Upset ? Jealous ? Well she shouldn't.
She cancelled on you. If asking for help is a big deal to her maybe you need to reconsider your choices.......
I'm just saying.

You can ask to be pre-screened . Ok not all providers are cool with that,( I am ) but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Verifaction services well some providers except that.
For me a verifaction site means nothing , as I trust only myself and how I screen.
But I can also screen most people in less then 10 minutes

for next time I suggest you look for a lady who is more reliable and referral friendly then you won't have to go to bed horny.

Altho I went to bed horny that night, when I got back with the money I didn't spend, I ended up buying a new stainless steel refrigerator and a matching stainless steel dish washer plus enough leftover to splurge on a high end Bluray player I've been eyeing.

Just get white-listed here on TER works for me when need someone on short notice, also would help if you'd post some reviews so other girls can search your user name and e-mail address on TER

Nothing like a little revenge shopping, and besides the stuff was seriously on sale this weekend. Now everytime I stuff the new dishwasher I'll be thinking of what didn't get stuffed that night in LV.
