for a steakhouse, I'll second the recommendation for Del Frisco's (a small chain that started in Dallas, one of two great steakhouses in that town).  Ask about the wine table on your way out.

It's rather fun, Marrakech (it's in the Citibank plaza on Paradise between Twain and Flamingo) for a prix fix moroccaan restaurant with a belly dancer for entertainment.  Also in the same plaza, Firefly (spanish tapas), Dragonfly (spinoff asian place), Sammys Woodfire Pizza, Ruth Chris', and Yolie's (brazilian).  Don't really care for Sammys or Ruth Chris'.  Lots of restaurants just south of there (along with Del Frisco across the street) like Morton's, Bahama Breeze, Gordon Biersch, Roy's, Buca di Beppo, Hamada's, Lawry's for Prime Rib, McCormick & Schmitt's, PF Chang's, Origins India, and the mix at Hard Rock Casino (Nobu, AJ's, Pink Taco, Mr. Lucky's).  There's a decent thai place just west of the Palms, Thai Spice if I remember correctly.  Lots of great choices near Chinatown (Spring Mountain & Valley View).  Some of the GCs are promoting good food (Scores, Treasures, Mens Club has 2 restaurants, not sure if Sapphires has one).

and there's even more great places further away from the strip.  Michael's moved from Barbary Coast nee Bill's Gambling Hall to South Point casino.  Plenty of good choices at any of the Station and Coast properties.  Lake Las Vegas has a few good spots.  And plenty of standalone places, too numerous to mention.

A question for locals.

I will be in LV shortly and have some time set aside for a special lady(or two).  I am in town with some co-workers, so I am looking for a dinner spot away from the strip where we can enjoy a nice discrete evening.

Would be thankful for any recommendations.  Thanks for your input.

There are so many restaurants on the strip, that it woild be extremely unlikely for you to run into anyone who would know you. I would suggest that you select a restaurant at the opposite end of the strip from where you are staying. If that is no good for you, then I would recommend Simon Kitchen in The Hard Rock. Food is very good, service is excellent, and the vibe is cool. or at the palms, try Alize or NYNE steakhouse. Outside of the casinos, you might try Del Friscos
steakhouse.

Good Luck and play safe!

Best Thai food I've ever had. In a nondescript strip mall off Sahara...the same one the Green Door is in.
