Planning my first vacation in a long time...and Vegas is on top of the list.

Is there a better or worse time to visit?
I should have enough skymiles to secure a ticket by the end of this year.
Is January good....or should I hold off til later?

Thanks in advance.

If your schedule is open I would go to a web site like www.vegas.com.  From that site you can check the hotel rates for every hotel on the strip day by day.  The rates in Vegas are like roller coasters they can literally change by hundreds of bucks each day depending on what's going on in town.   You don't have to book through the web site you can still deal with the hotel but it gives you a much better idea of what it's going to cost you in comparison to other dates.  Believe it or not one of the cheapest and best times to be in Vegas is the time before during and directly after the Super bowl.  Had some of the cheapest rates of the year the last two years.  Plus all the cash you save on the hotel you can blow on higher priced talent.

Not really, but the people that have lived here for a while think so.  Does this mean that I'm going to collect that drink?

As Lovely Lorena said, January is hoppin' because that is the number one month for conventions here in town.  A draw back to that, of coures, is that it is also the most expensive time to visit Las Vegas.  This January there will be such conventions as AVN (as Lorena stated), CES (which always runs concurrently with AVN), the Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) show, World of Concrete, and the National Potato Council.  (I guess Las Vegas is more fun than Boise!)  The web site lvcva.com has a searchable convention calendar.

As baba o riley said, you can check out vegas.com for what's happening in town when you want to come.  Another good web site to check out is visitlasvegas.com.  But this is Las Vegas, there is always something going on!

Have fun!!

Terry Bradshaw is going to be the keynote speaker.

See you there, the first round of hash browns is on me!

Don't think the folks that have been here for awhile think January is the coldest month. The coldest month historically is December for all those clowns that have been here like me for over 35 years. And you still get the drink.

How true!  When I come down in December I always chuckle to myself when the locals grumble about how cold it is.  For me it's warm!!!

Being from Florida...anything colder than 60 is miserable!

You collecting on that drink is one of the few "sure things" in Vegas. Just might be a little later than January from what I'm hearing.
