Vegas runner here...

I know a number of you here are also runners and you leave your cell phones at home or in the car.

The tragedy at Boston today just shows the importance of running with a phone.

I know that hard core runners don't want the weight of a phone to slow them down by a few seconds (which are CRUCIAL in the world of runners) but now is the time to start training regularly with that phone.  I have for years and am consistently in the top placement for my age range.

No, I don't qualify for Boston but I have friends and family members who participate each year.  Hearing the news today and being able to actually get in touch with them was a huge relief.  I think the lines are down now or have been shut down intermittently over the past few hours.

So, just in case...please please please run with your phone in case an event like this occurs here in Vegas in the future.  Or, even if you face an issue on your own while on a run.  A few seconds is not worth risking or harming your life.

With love,
Lynett

Sad day for Boston, running community, and our country.
New challenges for the Strip at Night marathon/half marathon in December.

Phone always strapped to my bicep every run with Runkeeper app.
