We need Congress to pass the Restaurants Act

It only takes 1 minute to do

Apologize if this doesn't belong but so many great establishments definitely will not survive without the help and many still won't even with it but it is worth a shot

Without me getting overly political as this isn't the place, but unfortunately it's the Republicans Senators and trump that won't pass or work on anything of substance. Nevada Senators are Dems. so they're good to go...now that's the end of that.

The Bill in the Senate was sponsored by, wait for it. A REPUBLICAN. so quit lying about who is holding this up. Without getting overly political of course.

Link provided for PROOF of what I say.

For the record, I am NOT claiming that the Dems are against this bill, both the House bill and the bill in the Senate enjoy bipartisan support, I am just pointing out your blatant "non political" statement is a complete fucking LIE.

Please note, I said of "Substance"...The bill you're referring to didn't have substance, it doesn't have bi partisan support, It's just crumbs and you know it. It won't get a fly high. FEMA money ran out in 3 weeks...that rep bill didn't have "Meat on the bone"?  The Democrats had a much better bill...sorry to say.
So,with the word "Substance" was I lying? .Or did you "shoot" your load alittle too quickly....again.
There's more and I don't want this to be a political shit storm here.
Am I wrong???

Read the fucking link Happy, the bill sponsored in the Senate has over two dozen co sponsors including CHUCK SCHUMER, the House version has well over 150 co sponsors.

I am NOT referring to the "skinny bill" I am referring to the actual bill the OP was talking about. please keep the fuck up or shut the fuck up, or at least admit that you don't have any idea what either I or the OP are talking about and that you simply hate Republicans and are just making shit up.

If you don't want a "political shit storm" here, than don't start one. The bill the OP was talking about has huge bi-partisan support, and IMO is a very important bill that could do a LOT of good. The restaurant business is being damaged almost to the point of no return and needs help.  this was NOT a partisan issue until you made it one by lying about something that you obviously had no clue about.

First notice both stories are from Left leaning publications showing how the Democrats have been blocking any bill coming out of the Congress.
Secondly, Republicans have tried more than once, but the Democrats voted against it and filibustered it. ( a Senate action which Presidential Contender Kamalla Harris called earlier this week "a left over tactic from the Jim Crow" era, much to the surprise of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. As she used it)  They do not want anything that will seem as a win for the president. Any stimulus or relieve package will not pass until after the election.

I think the Restaurant Act is a VERY good piece of legislation and I wish both Crazy Nancy and Muleheaded Mitch would bring it up for a vote so ANYONE on either side of the aisle who votes against it will have to go on record as doing so.

This bill has a lot of bi-partisan support and deserves more attention. It won't fix everything as you have already alluded to, but perhaps it could save at least some of the restaurants who are almost certain not to t survive without some well needed help that this bill would afford.

Good Post, sorry that someone claiming not to be political had to hijack it by making some very misleading and untrue statements about where the bill stands today and why.

No worries at all

Glad to see some discussion on this topic and the Las Vegas board to be honest

This has a personal stake for me as a culinary worker who is still furloughed and local spots are the only viable options for the foreseeable future

and anyone who thinks a restaurant can survive at the ridiculous 25% capacity mandated by many local and state governments, has obviously never run a restaurant. Most restaurants would lose LESS money by simply keeping their doors shut than trying to make a go of it under these draconian restrictions.

I feel your pain, and I hope Congress gets off their partisan asses and do something before we end up with more restaurants NOT surviving COVID restrictions than ones that survive.

As for local spots they are all abiding by the rule but can't say for strip properties as I haven't been lately

Sad thing is with food/labor cost, payroll plus overhead  I see most places not even breaking even with the limitations but many are doing takout that never did before so hopefully that is getting them thru
