How bad are things in Las Vegas? It must seem eery if the hotels are nearly empty. I'm hoping
that it is close to normal by October.  Las Vegas is the one place where the "real" worlddoes
not seem to exsist.  Hope you are all healthy & sa fe.

It is pretty quiet out here! I believe things will definitely be normal by October though. Praying for the best!

in speaking with a few high placed casino execs .. dont expect anything even approaching semi normal before December .. in fact there is talk of cancelling CES !      there might be soft openings later this year ..  ie  open every other floor .. only one restaurant per casino ..  every third slot machine.

but vegas wont return to 2019  until there is a vaccine.    very very sad ..   i miss America's pressure relief valve

In fact, it is being estimated that we are only one-tenth of the way through this pandemic, and by “flattening the curve” we have actually extended the economic pain.  You see, the truth is that most Americans are going to end up catching this virus one way or another.  All of the “shelter-in-place” orders have temporarily slowed down the spread of this coronavirus, but once they are lifted it is inevitable that we will see new waves of people becoming infected.  And if you think that a vaccine will be the golden ticket that gets us out of this mess, you might want to reconsider that belief, because there has never been a successful vaccine for any coronavirus.

Thanks for your input. From what medical school do you hold your degree?

As a retired dairy cattle veterinarian, I can tell you there ARE good coronavirus vaccines for cattle.  There is a killed vaccine for cows and heifers to provide antibodies to the baby calf through colostrum and there is also a modified live vaccine to give to a baby calf if the mother isn't vaccinated to provide colostrum protection.  Like many vaccines, they are not absolute, but they do decrease incidence of the disease and they also decrease severity if the calf does develop the disease.

This mantra of a vacine to resolve our economic collapse is a hope not a promise. It very well just may not happen. Sadly here are a couple examples that prove my point.
The 1917 & 1918 virius which killed 3 to 4 million people around the world just vanished. It went away. No vacine or cure was ever discovered.
AIDS was not cured by a vacine.
None of the several viruises which have happened in this century have been cured by a vacine. None of them. Polio was cured by a vacine. That was in the early 1950s.
So keep this in mind when the "experts" who tell us all what to do and not do and change their orders every week.
I think we need to suck it up and get on with our lives as best we can.
Stay safe everyone ..May God bless each and every one of you.
