personally I'm a cat lover, because one has to earn their affection and they choose who to give their love to and don't just give it away to anyone who comes and gives them attention.  Not to mention , they pick their owners and if you let them pick you instead of picking them, they'll always be very loyal... There are exceptions to every rule, in general I have found this to be true of the non pure breed kitties.  As a pure breed of animal is so inbreed that they tend to have more health and mental problems it seems...

I'd say get a cat... You know what they say: "Big cats are dangerous, but a little pussy won't hurt anyone."
Congrats on the new house

Nikki Avalon is right, Ferrets are great pets.. smart as hell

Nothing beats a devotion and unconditional love that a puppy brings. However, if you're not home a lot, it's unfair to the pet. Research the different breeds. Some have more dependency on companionship than others. If you do decide on a dog and it's a breed that needs companionship, consider two dogs. One will keep the other company.

Now that said, nothing beats the cleanliness and independence of a cat. For the most part, if you have them neutered and provide them a scratching post they will provide just the right amount of companionship without being too needy.

I found that the local humane society is usually a great place to find a pet and get good advice as to which breed is likely to best suit your life style.

And on the wife thing? Trust me, if I could do it over again. I'd get a pet before getting married. LOL

... the Husky does happen to be the mascot of the local university.

But the thing is that I'd guess what he'd need is a RAIN dog for the weather around here most of the time...

It's 70 degrees and a gorgeous spring day- it's been pretty dry for a week, but the flowers are out and it's green everywhere.

Oh yeah, it won't get dark until around 9 o'clock.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go play outside and geet away from the computer. But sure, let's have the next TER Vegas board get together in Seattle. ;)

I am an expert on the subject of Pet's and the maintenance and responsibility attached with their love and care.

I presently have the last of 5 diffferent dogs I have owned over the past 45 years--she is 16 and I love her to death but takes a lot of attention to take care of.

I recently bought two new kittens (twin brothers) for a total of 4 cats in the home----they are absolutely very little trouble and with a little planning I can even leave them overnight by themselves--by getting 2 at the same time they tend to take care of each other and

This leads me to believe you should get two new pussies!!!
