I love Vegas and want to spend a month or two there this coming summer and want to get an apartment instead of the usual hotel. Last time I was in town I noticed lots of rental signs outside apartment blocks which advertised monthly rentals. This is very different to London, UK where I now live!
So I have some questions which I hope you can help me with:
- can I really rent a good apartment on a monthly basis? - how do I find an up-market apartment in a block with a pool, within easy reach of the strip? - what will I be required to provide in advance eg refundable deposit, ID, proof of residence etc - any idea (rough estimate) how much I might expect to pay for a 3 bedroom apartment, with pool, very close to the strip?
2)Try these two web sites - there are other sites, yry doing a search on google.com. Also check the online classifieds on the Las Vegas Review Journal:
Cheesewiz does give some good advice. I'd also suggest looking into a timeshare as they tend to be more upmarket (and usually fully furnished and have maid service and other niceites) although as a one-time visit may be difficult to arrange. Polo Towers is right in the heart of the south end of the strip and it's one of the better known timeshares in town.
One other option that seems to work well for some people is to contact a realtor about a furnished apartment and let them know you want it only for a month. If you have a trusted friend that can get to Vegas ahead of time, you can have them double check on the options that the realtor comes up with and go from there.
Just for reference, standard rental contracts for (unfurnished) apartments can be found for as short as six months, with a security deposit and non-refundable cleaning fee. You can get longer periods but with the transient nature of some people in this town, six months leases can be easily found.
One last piece of advice, you don't want to be caught living in the back of Cheese's van (down by the river...)
Thanks for the advice and links guys. Not sure about providing proof of employment, that may well be tricky - or could possibly work to my advantage if it's a male realtor! lol
