Horrible -bad  Breath,   Lack of  confidence,  shoving their entire tongue down your throat  
 OK -  lack of chemistry
Good -  mechanical  
 Great -  good form,  but not really your type  
 Awesome -  passionate,  hard and soft,  heavy and light.   The passionate kiss comes from the entire body not just the mouth.  Generally not appropriate in  public  
  I think it's different for everyone, but that's my take on it  

A kiss is a give and take dance of being the kiss-er and the kiss-ee. A kiss is not beautiful if the kisser is driving straight at you with no tenderness or tease. Permit me to kiss you back. Be both the giver and receiver. Approach gently and ramp up according to the "go" signals you get from the receiver. And always bring your A-game... fresh breath and brushed teeth.

At least for me - there has to be at least a semblance of a connection for it to be good - otherwise it is either mechanical or just soul-less. I would rather not kiss at all than have a mechanical, soulless kiss because I personally get nothing out of that. Aside from the obvious (hygiene, etc), there has to be a connection, some chemistry there for it to work.

I love kissing, most of the time.  But there are some no-nos:
- bad breath
- probing with your tongue as if you were trying to floss my teeth!
- too much saliva, spitting in my mouth
- opening your mouth so wide that you suck the whole lower half of my face

Luckily I find most people know how to kiss well.  Following your partner's lead is important.  The tempo and intensity should match.  Alternating between gentle teasing and more of a passionate, urgent kiss is great.  Tiny lip nibbles too.

Mmm...kissing.
