Don't want to be Debbie Downer but this has been weighing really heavily on my heart since I heard about it Sunday (maybe because it has always been my personal favorite Cirque Show)...

Sarah Guyard-Guillot, a mother of two children ages 8 and 5, was performing in the 7 p.m. showing of KA Saturday at MGM Grand when she fell an estimated 50 feet to a pit below the stage and out of the audience's view. Her anguished cries and moans were heard throughout the hushed theater as the performance was halted. Fellow performers watched helplessly from above before being lowered to the ground, and the audience was ushered out. She was pronounced dead at 11:43 p.m. at University Medical Center.

Sadly there are always new tragedies occurring every day (like the AZ Firemen) but there is a tribute page set up here: http://forsasoun.com and taking a moment out of your day to share your experience seeing KA or love for the talent of Cirque Performers in general I'm sure would mean a great deal to her loved ones...

Additionally I encourage anyone who has enjoyed KA or any Cirque Show to donate on this page as it goes directly to her children:   http://forsasoun.com/donations

It seemed like the firefighters were the victims of a Perfect Storm..They were trapped because of the wind shift and no way out..at all.
What a genuine tragedy for everyone close to these poor men and a message for all. Dont ever think everything will work out and be okay when nature is involved in the equation.

Ive never seen KA but appreciate how hard it is for what those performers do..They understand the risks and potential for complete total loss and assume it.
Their assumption of risk does not lesson the pain for those that loved them sadly. I hope her children are well cared for.

Having seen a few Cirque shows over the years, including KA,, I'm surprised there have not been more fatalities, considering how dangerous some of the stunts are, and how often the shows take place.

Condolences to her family and friends

I used to work for a cirque show and part of the safety was my responsibility, I would get nervous watching them perform with the fear that if I did not do my job right I could hurt someone. I had to work with them for months nitpicking at everything I made to make sure it was safe but also visually appealing to the audience.

My hear goes out to her and her family and the cast and crew they are one large extended family and it makes it hard for the show to go on.

at the guts and talent those performers have.  A sad reminder that not even all that talent and preparation can prevent a tragic end.
