I need a Good Adventure

Everyone knows that I adore traveling out of the country when I can. However, I am looking for a good fun adventure closer to home these days.

Something that Does Not involve the Vegas Strip or any of it’s Night clubs, but is whithin driving distance or a cheap plane ride.

Just relaxation , and fun with adventure to keep me busy.

So I ask you, what is the best (non hobby / provider) adventure you have been on recently?

Dunno if it is too "touristy" (is that even a word!?!?), but I'm doing the whole Grand Canyon/helicopter/white water rafting thing this trip.  Should be an adrenaline rush...I hope.  OR it's just gonna be "touristy" crap!

It's not ridiculously hot, even. Plenty of hiking and places to get away from it all.

I don't know if you're into hiking, but what about The Narrows in Zion n.p.?
It's a wonderful adventure, a long hike in a river (water generally knee deep or so in summer), between high, fluted walls (200ft high and just 5-10 feet wide in some points). It's a long hike (16mi.) but you can also split in two days and camp inside the canyon. And it's cool in summer.
Or maybe learning canyoneering and go down The Subway (a long opening in rocks appearing like a tunnel, with gentle water flowing and blue water holes) using ropes, in Zion, too, quite easy for beginners after a lesson day.
There are really good outfitters in Springdale providing all your needs.
If you need adventure, I think these could fit

For me the main reason I come to Vegas is go out in the dessert and hike (right).  But in all seriousness there are so many great places in nature close to Vegas that I love to go to.  The Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon, Death Valley, and Ash Meadows are all great places that I like to go to when  I come down to Vegas.

From red rock to gold strike and valley of fire. A must do Grand Canyon hike is Hualapai Falls, It is a 10 mile hike, most do it by mule or charter a chopper down.

Turquoise waters that look like they are in the Caribbean, and you can swim right under the falls. The good part no large crowds there because of the trek.

My suggestion, start the hike early AM like 5 am, that way by the time it gets really hot you are at the water you can spend all day in this surreal place then charter a chopper back, prices are very reasonable. You will feel like you are in a different country. This is an absolute must do here.

How about Sedona, AZ.  Stay at the Enchantment Resort. The Mi Amo spa is great.
Or totally different try Moab UT, great bike paths.
