I stayed at the South Point when they first opened (also for a convention) and it was pretty impressed at the time. I recall the food being better than and cheaper than some restaurants on the Strip. It wasn't a big party joint but it is hard to beat the convenience of being in the hotel of a convention or trade show.

Hi all...

Visiting in April and spending the first four nights at MGM condo but then being booted out and going to South Pointe where ill be at a convention.

I know it's a bit off the strip, but how far a cab ride?  Are the rooms nice?  Providers will you, um, come there?

Just wondering if its a nice, fun place or just a room?,

Thanks...  See you soon!

Smokey, is my recollection.
It's close to Town Square, where there are a lot of nice restaurants and shops...locals love Town Square.
You could always stay at Mandalay Bay and get down to the convention at South Pointe.
My 2 cents.

Hi Y'all

They do put on costumes when rodeos are in town.

Never stayed, but cab fare from MGM (One Way) is: about $30 including tip.

Evidently you can take a bus to the strip, but will need to change buses along the way.

I like SP.  It is not a wild party casino for the younger crowd.  There is a movie theater and bowling alley on sight.  They have fairly good gambling there.  Probably the wildest I've seen there is in December during the NFR.  Good food, very nice convenience store.  Many really hot cocktail servers, sexy outfits.  The rooms are good, nothing too fancy.

I would not stay there without a car.

I have been there in the past for dates. There are some condo type rooms with fantastic big bathtubs! :D

There used to be dancing there as well, such as salsa and swing etc. Not sure if they still do.  It is an easy trip to Town Square which has just about anything you could ask for.

I may be there at the same time as you. Take a peek at my profile and see if you may be interested in getting together.
