Any posting with even a hint of sarcasm get's rejected. Yet just last week, mutiple personal attacks, with quite a few brutal back and forths, were allowed. And then not allowed (removed). There doesn't seem to be any continuity. Some can get away with it. Some can't.

The whole idea of censorship, especially on a board like this, is insane. You would think if there was one forum where free speech would be allowed, and oppresion wouldn't, it would be this one.

I can understand not allowing full out flames/attacks, but there's no need for this type of nanny state mentality. The subject matter is adult. Shouldn't we be treated likewise?

You are no allowed to attack a ladies ad on her posting.  Period.  It's not a rule that I made, but it's been in place for quite some time.  If others haven't enforced that rule, take it up with them.

You refuse to post a reply of mine below and have directed me to the guidelines page.

And I quote.... "While it is anticipated that vigorous debate of ideas and opinions may occur within this forum, it is expected that civility in discourse will be maintained .... Criticizing ideas and opinions is a normal process of debate and each person should expect to have ideas challenged. That being said, personal attacks such as denigration of another person's character or value have no place in such discussions."

I sincerely feel I'm well within these guidelines. This is a community. Why not post my reply in this thread and see what the popular opinion is? Honestly, human nature suggest you'll be vindicated, but it would be interesting to see what others think.

It wasn't an attack. Exclamation point! And your reply to me violates the guidelines way more than my reply to her.

Congrats on the modship. But maybe you're a little too sensitive for the job?

you seem to be under the impression that there is a right to free speech here...

This is a private site and the rules may or not be enforced as seen fit by the moderators and the administration.

popular opinion doesn't mean that it is acceptable

so far most of the posts i have seen from your log in have been whining and self ingratiating.

How long have you been around these parts. Arguing with a moderator will as likely as not get you sent to detention for as long as said moderator determines at his own discretion.

Besides, do you realize how pathetically stupid you are looking right now?

Perhaps you could reply to the post by privately emailing the subject of the post.  It seems you'd like to voice your opinion about a particular post very much.  If it is that important, send an email or a PM.  Or, is it more important to you that everyone can read it?  Do you need attention?

Being a moderator of a board like this is no easy feat, as many do act like children and need constant guidance to be nice and to play by the rules.

Our new mod has a great task at hand.  This board is very busy and constantly NEEDS moderating.  He has been around long enought to do a great, unbiased job.

Let him do his job.  Think before you type, whether it is to respond to a post, or to complain.

Think of something nice or helpful to post and I'm sure you'll get to see your name in lights once again!

Yep, you figured me out. That's it, I simply need to see my name up in lights. Only one problem with all that though.... yadayoda isn't my real name. But still, good effort.

It's not about a particular post being posted, per se. It's the pricinple of the thing. Perhaps because I perform and do stand-up, I'm more sensitive to it than others. If there was a zero tolerance policy, that would be one thing. But there isn't. Some stuff is allowed, some stuff isn't. With no rhyme or reason to any of it.

Look at this very thread, so far. And the anonymous cowards posting in it. Even their "regular" fake name isn't enough, they have to invent new ones (yourself included). Which is hilarious in that it completely proves my point. Not you, "niceness," who hasn't posted an insult or anything. Yet somehow calling me a whiner, a fool and pathetically stupid doesn't violate the precious guidelines. It's just all so schoolyard.

But it's okay. I said what I had to say. Some will get it. Most won't. I don't care in real life what anybody thinks of me. And even less so online.

Btw, your writing style seems familar. Have we conversed before ;)

Make this world a better place, if you can!

I gave up on trying to make any privately owned site behave how I want it to and created my own. Now I better understand the reasoning behind moderation decisions and don't question too much. And if someone tries to challenge me on a decision, I generally end up deleting them...... pretty simple solution and I don't care how much they whine about it because it's my site, and I get to make the decisions and I dont' have to put up with crap that I don't want to. That's the beautiful thing about being the one to pay the hosting bills and have that ownership certificate.

We all try to be fair but honestly, nothing in this life is ever fair. So to hold other people, whom you do not personally know or actively engage in online conversations with, to your standards and expectations is simply unrealistic.

Take a Xanax, I hear it helps with anxiety over things you can not control.

Oh.. and this is my real name, no hiding behind anything and I have no issue with you not liking me as a result of my response.........

Carry on...........

We don't have to agree. There isn't one person on this board that I dislike. The mod included. I don't take things personally.

And I realize that at the end of the day, this isn't exactly the gulf oil spill.

Censorship has always been a pet peeve of mine. And has been a real issue for me in my personal/professional life. But obviously whatever happens here won't keep me up at night. No xanax needed. Although some would definitely be appreciated.

How long do you intend to scream about censorship while you post(which includes derogatory comments to an authoritative body)continues to grace the board?

I do feel you,et al,have a right to voice an opinion(be it an inflamitory one)without censorship. However,as one poster has mentioned, this is TER'S domain. Their site, their rules. As consumers ours is to decide, based on experience with, whether to be patrons or not.

I think you'd find LP one of the more lenient mods there are.

Alright LP where's my 20 bucks for sayin that? LOL

OK I am going to refrain from what I was about to say because it's better kept private, yet I do not have the desire to PM you so let's just let this die right here.

You delete people who disagree with you. But go on to say that "we all try to be fair." Although life's not fair. Blah. Blah. Blah. And then suggested I take a pharmaceutical absent a prescription. Sorry, but nothing really thought provoking there.

As for PM'ing me, you can't. And even if you could, I'd tell you to say it on the board. This may surprise you, but I'm not all that worried about whatever you have to say.

It's called a moderated board because it is. Yes - the rules seem slippery; that's because they are. The standards are defined by whoever has the authority: That's not NECESSARILY a bad thing.

Was a time when the Vegas board was the wild west. It was fun, but man, it was cruel. Since then, this board has occasionally experienced a heavy hand to pull folks back into line. It's happened to me a number of times, and others I know, when we get a little too comfy with the slings and arrows.

It isn't fair. It's not meant to be. I trust LP and the other mods to do what they think is right. When I don't like it, I can always vote with my feet. But I doubt I'd be able to rouse many to follow me out the door just 'cause I'm pissed.

Relax, Yoda. You've been an active contributor to this board, but that doesn't give much in the way of immunity from being pulled in when someone thinks you went too far. You knew the rules to being un-moderated, and you choose not to work to meet the requirements. That's okay, too.

Be advised, though, that indignant complaints usually just up our entertainment level.

The part about the rules, and the unfairness is completely true.  Where I disagree is that, having seen what started all of this, it wasn't a case of pulling things back to control the board.

The post was a sarcastic remark about Natalie Lux's rate.  I have no issue with the post itself, except that it was posted on her ad thread.  TER's position is that a lady gets one ad per week, so people aren't allowed to shit on it.  If that's censorship, then I'm an evil asshole.  Using that logic, I should allow people to post pictures of their neighbors because they pay for VIP.  Sorry, it's not gonna happen.

Alan Shore 29 Reviews 319 reads

..sort of correct. I didn't mean to imply that VIP gave any posting content privilege.
