Next month for a weekend  during AVN .

If the appointment is an hour a room is fine.  If you get multi hour I think a suite is better.  
Location is more important, though.

Although- If you book a multi hour an plan to be out and about a room is fine.
I'v never been particular on visiting a room or a suite!

again, depends.  If you are here for AVN you probably want to stay closer to Hard Rock. That is if you are actually going to the convention, awards, etc.  If you are here for the parties the Strip is better.  Downtown would work, too.

Sure a suite has more room of course but unless a suite is your personal preference I would not spend more for a suite.
You could pay for a room instead of a suite and have more money for other things
Whether it is on the Strip,downtown,off of the strip or west going towards the Red Rock as long as the location is close to where you want to go or need to be.

But, it doesn't really matter to me. I think you should get what you are comfortable with. I also think location is more important. It's nicer to visit a room in a nice nice hotel than some type of suite in a bad location.

It does not matter to me as long as the room is clean and surroundings appear safe.

Having a great shower and large tub are always a plus.  
Also having a couch can be fun especially if your together for many hours .
