Just wondering if there is a discreet/delicate way to let a lady know upfront that you don't really need to spend time at the beginning of the date to get to know each other and that you just want to start in with the fun. The chit chat could always happen after round 1 as a  warm up to round 2.

I’m sure most wouldn’t mind if you were straightforward about it.  

Some ladies use the "chit chat" as a way of foreplay. Some women kinda need it. I learn that if you take the initial 20 or so minutes to engage with her you'll find that the young lady might be little more comfy with you. The trick is to have the lady not really start the meter the minute you meet.
At one time I was like you, meet, say our pleasantries and bam head to our room. I did this to a young lady on our first 3 dates. By the third date, I felt something was "off" when we were going to our room. She didn't say anything...ok fast forward a month later. Made a date to meet but this time she put her foot down and said, "We're going to have a drink first before we fuck".
She told me meeting for a drink and chit chatting was exciting for her....so that's when it hit me.  
See....but the bottom line is, know your audience.
