Hotels and Security in Vegas

Sorry to bring this subject up again as I know it's been discussed a lot in the past but I'd really appreciate some up to date info on hotels.

I'm coming to Vegas to work in May and I'm thinking of staying at either Aladdin, New York New York or Treasure Island.  I want a hotel with decent rooms, centrally located on the strip, not overly expensive and which doesn't have strict security so my visitors can come straight up to my room.  The hotel must also have a fitness centre and data ports in the rooms.

Any thoughts on the hotels I've mentioned in relation to my requirements - most particularly the hotel security aspect?

Thanks in advance :)

The Aladdin is a good choice, and they have high speed internet access in the rooms.

The last time I stayed at TI they didn't have security at the elavaotors until late at night.  The rooms are nice, or at least the suites are.

I don't think you'll have much luck.  With the war starting in mid-March, most of the hotels beefed up security checks (at the parking lots, elevators, etc.).

Best thing to do is to pick a bar/lounge to meet on the casino floor and bring them up.  Either that or security needs to call your room to get past the elevator checks.  It's not that big of a deal.

Mandalay Bay has no security .... phones have data ports, and an excellent spa and fitness center .... book early for rates though.... they have a website and a club you can join which is free for room specials .......

I guess the geek in me is showing:

When you say "data ports", are you looking for in-room high speed direct connection to the Net or just the ability to dial up the Net through the phone?

The reason I ask is just about all hotel phones now offer phone "data ports".  Very few hotels in LV offer in-room high speed access.

Turning off my geek hat....now.....

Another Mandalay casino worth checking out is Monte Carlo. It's centrally located on the strip, easy access, data ports, fitness center, no security at the elevators...etc etc. etc...

I just left Vegas and was staying at MGM... a security guard was posted by the elevators, but did not ask for a room key like the Mirage does.  Right outside the elevators is a bar where guys can p/u working girls.  There must have been at least 10 - 15 at a time going up and down the rooms.  The problem is that MGM is not centrally located, however, it is off Tropicana Blvd and if you are a local or know the area... you can take many back streets to get there quick.

I hope you will stop in LA.  I believe you have my email to tell me when I can book an appt. with you.

And if they don't have it my cell phone offers a quicker connection than any dial up. My next purchase is a portable sat. dish.

And you thought you were a geek?

Quzi,

I disagree with you about beefed up security. I was staying at Luxor a couple of weeks ago when this war began and there was absolutely NO security personnel visible anywhere near the tower elevators. Now Luxor's pyramid has always had 24/7 security (to keep the curious non-guests from riding the "inclinators"), but that's really not a problem for outcall, as the provider can always have them call up to your room for an OK (or you can meet her downstairs). For incall, any guards present are going to know what's going on, but rarely care (they're usually discreet).

Speed Racer

Of those, I'd recommend Aladdin.

It's the newest of the three.
The rooms are close to the elevators (No long walks trying to find the room) and the elevators are close to the hotel entrance.
Aladdin has high speed internet connections in the room for your laptop and it has a monitor and keyboard in the room for high speed web browsing on their terminal.  (You can't download or upload or data transfer on their terminal).

In regards to security, I've stayed there twice this year and security was no problem.  It is very easy to get around without a hassle.

BTW - For a list of hotels with high-speed Internet access, check this site - http://www.geektools.com/geektels/

I think the Luxor never had security for the towers, just the pyramid.

Still, with the war and the hotels stepping up their own security measures, I think the blanket recommendation applies in most cases which is to expect security at the guest elevators.  I've never heard of anyone 86ed for bringing different guests up to their room (more likely is that they've been nabbed working the bars or caught in a sting operation by LE).  If you take the proper precautions, touring ladies usually don't have any problems in town.
