I just received an email from her notifying her clients that their site has been hacked and to change my email. How worried should I be about this and what information do they keep?

If this is true and I'm not sure it really happened or is true, what do you think is stored on the site?  If you are a member, then everything you've submitted via the membership page is stored on the site.

This crap about erasing everything with the single push of a button is just that - crap.  There is no security on the web without encryption and even then there is no security.  Just ask the credit card companies, the US government, Sony, Bank America, and everyone else who has been hacked.

When you join any site you become vulnerable to inadvertant release of private information whethner due to a mistake or a hack.  That's the choice you made.  Just hope the hackers don't post it somewhere or sell it to someone who starts soliciting you for money, etc.

Another possibliity is that some other location where the data was stored outside of the website got hacked such as an outlook account or files stored on a computer somewhere.  That's the risk you take.

Sorry Gentlemen for the scare last night.  My ex business partner sent the email as an attempt to scare our clients from working with us.  No one has hacked into our database, metro has not been involved, there is no threat behind the message other than to create anxiety.  

The email will not be followed by demands, there is no risk of exposure, and the only information they accessed was the email addresses .... the email was sent following an unsuccessful attempt to rise me.  

And to answer the previous post about being able to destroy all data at the push of a button, yes indeed I certainly CAN remotely wipe clean every piece of the company with one single key stroke.  I am not storing information and if you have worked with us, you know I always ask before sharing cell phone numbers, I always have to ask you again what your house number, unit number, condo is, that's because it's not saved or stored anywhere.  I am not going to compromise anyone, lest myself in this business venture.  I spent the past 9 months working very hard to build a relationship with you and in no way am I going to compromise it.

Haley's comments not withstanding, you have "no concerns" that her former business partner whoever that may be (male?, female?, competitor?) is trying to harm her business and has your personal email address?  

That's worse than a hack because hackers are usually looking for financial information while a former business partner is actively trying to hurt her business.  You don't mind being in the middle of that mess which, btw, she is unable to control?

I simply said that information is stored on sites and elsewhere and that nothing is safe as evidenced by secure sites being hacked everyday.
