Thanks for the heads up. I will be staying there in a few weeks and am in the planning stages wrt my entertainment, meeting places etc.  I appreciate the added security by the hotel and knowing what to expect as we approach the elevators is valuable information. This will help ensure discretion and comfort for myself and my guest.

They have the scanners on the second floor; not the first (at least they did when I was there in January).  This becomes a particularly sticky issue for providers who may have keys from the past and just show them.  If you scan it, and you are not a currently registered guest, it flashes red and they call security to have you escorted from the premises.  I have seen many ladies there.  All you have to do is come down to meet them and take them back up.  Use the first floor.  It is busier and they do pay less attention.

The more you make of it, the more you looks suspect. Just saying...
This is so true. I often meet dates by the elevator, it's not strange at all unless you make it strange. People in hotel rooms might have guests they need to escort up for any number of reasons!

It's great to be aware of it, but don't let it be a deterrent from staying!

second floor meeting at palazzo is nice. You can find each other easier, pretend to be browsing the shops....AND possibly pick something up for your lady friend at Victoria's secret. I miss Vegas

What kind of security do they have at Delano?   I stayed there last summer and there wasn't any.

I have been at the Venitian the last couple of days and there have not been any scanners. Just security checking keys. Maybe they were testing/experimenting for something in the future?

I visited the Palazzo last night and went in the entrance from the parking garage on the casino floor and no scanners.

I always found the best way to meet up was in front of Victoria's Secret and then head through that entrance to elevators.  I never had a problem with that.  Will that still work?

They have security at elevators. if you date doesn't have a room card key you just meet her downstairs or slip a room card key for her. No issues :)

I was at the Palazzo this weekend (during the day) and they had scanners at all the elevator entrances.  However they looked like they were mobile scanners on stands, so it may be that they bring them out only once in a while?  I had not seen them on different entrances within the last month (as others had) but this time they were at all of them.

Is it a medal detector or is it a card checker?

It's a handheld device that will verify if you're a current guest at the hotel or not via your hotel room key.

It wasn't really a hand held, it was on a stand but looked like it may be Mobile so it could be taken away or put in place easily so they may only use them during certain times.
