I have been procuring internet from a neighbor who has thwarted my budding criminal activity by moving and taking their wireless signal with them… so I guess it is time to break down and get a new card. My current carrier is Verizon but I am open to others. Anyone have any recommendations?
Ya really think the "smart one" is a technical guru?? RAOTFLMAO!!
My only response to Erin would be that it appears she HAS a card and needs an ISP and wireless router. But this is something that would best be handled on-site!!
and I have been happy with it, especially more recently, they have upgraded the service and it works very well for me. When I travel, I take my laptop with me and I get service in all the places I normally go, chicago, orlando, tampa, honolulu, san fran, LA, etc. Saves me a lot on expensive daily service from hotels. It does cost about $60 a month though. If you do not have a landline in your home, many people do not now, it is a good option. I have never had good luck with Cable internet. I have a DSL in my home from AT &T and it is fine for my home office computer. Good luck, nothing is as good a deal as borrowing DSL wireless from your neighbor. Just make sure Verizon has good internet service where your home is located.
ya, it's roughly $120/month but if you travel and have to be on the Internet, using one or the other (whichever one has the better signal/speed) is worth it.
There's some interesting options out there if you want to share that card, like Kyocera makes a router that takes a card or USB modem (http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/kr2-router/), D-Link makes two depending on which wireless network you use (models DIR-450 and DIR-451) and I'm not sure Netgear does the same (models MBR814XF and MBR814XUC).
One thing I'll note is that any of the wireless carriers will kick you off for doing too much streaming media as it tends to overload their network. I think Verizon is pretty explicit about this in their contract.
