It's pretty crowded here during the Holiday Weekend.  I don't know the above poster or where he usually hangs out on NYE but theres at least 100,000 people who come INTO Vegas for the NYE festivities.  I'm not sure of the actual numbers for this year but it's always above or beyond THAT.  The strip will be shut down on NYE fairly early and won't open again until 6am.  Which means if you're staying at a strip property you will have to WALK to a neighborhood either east or west of the strip to catch a cab or park your car at an off strip hotel that you can walk to to retrieve it during these hours.

The cops are in full force during the holiday weekend, especially in and around the strip.  DUI check points are going to be popping up all over the place.

It's a VERY busy weekend here in town...:)  Stay safe and have fun!!

..to check a hotel rate comparison web site.  I use VegasView and I'm seeing discounted rates for Friday and Saturday night.  So that would indicate it may not be particularly crowded.   Naturally, if you stay for NYE, expect HIGH rates and LOTS OF PEEPS!! :)

But why the concern relative to whether it's crowded or not?  Book a lady and 2's NOT a crowd!  LOL

A quick check of room rates on 29th & 30th will answer your question. If only from california, any holiday weekend will see a surge.

The parties / events are starting on Friday the 28th this year and going through Monday night.

All of the good hotels I know of are requiring a three night minimum if you want a room the night of the 31st.
