I think The Ugly American should still be required reading for school kids -- both for the geopolitics, a slight historical value and the social/cultural aspect regarding how the rest of the world can see us. I also think that those Americans (actually a bad word as it's also referring to a lot of people who don't want to be lumped into that bucket -- Canadians, Mexicans, Chileans...) who have had any real interactions with other cultures do better; though will acknowledge some just get worse.

I also think that those Americans (actually a bad word as it's also referring to a lot of people who don't want to be lumped into that bucket -- Canadians, Mexicans, Chileans...) who have had any real interactions with other cultures do better; though will acknowledge some just get worse. The other thing Americans do that I find hilarious at times is when they try speaking "slowly and loudly" but completely in English thinking that if they repeat their words often enough, slowly enough and loudly enough, someone who speaks ZERO English is somehow going to understand them.
As for the OP, I see the BSU's are off in earnest. Does this douchebag really think his words are going to make the bad actors reform, or have any effect except to irritate the rest of us?

(you can tell by his feet, they're long fellows) Personally, I wasn't bothered by your tone, but that could be just me. Then too I remind myself that most of you guys are apparently writing from the perspective of a Southern California K-girl scene so unlike anything we have in Chicago that it might as well be another culture. No doubt I miss all kinds of associations and nuances. So if I don't seem to understand something, feel free to repeat it VERY LOUDLY AND SLOWLY in a fake Midwestern accent. 
I find Asian and, for some reason, especially Korean women so attractive that I'm sure I sometimes sound a little gaga writing about them. I mean for that to be taken with the requisite grain of salt, but I shouldn't assume that it will be. In reality I respect the ladies, K and otherwise, as equals and aim for nothing more or less than to treat them as I'd like to be treated and, to the extent I can, make every encounter a good experience for us both. I imagine most if not all of us here are pretty much on the same page on that. Happy 2017, and enjoy the K-girls and the non-Ks too!
