It's almost impossible to prove that a review is fake (unless it was copied word for word from another review). However, for well-reviewed providers, these outlier reviews generally don't make much difference, as other potential customers will notice them, and, will usually figure out to discount or disregard them. She has 59 other reviews by which one can evaluate her. The review doesn't really have anything negative, but it is just written poorly. So, minimal "harm" is done.
I am more offended by shill reviews, whether real or not, as they cause others to spend $ for experiences/looks that are misleading.
Fake and exaggerated reviews have always been done, for as long as TER has been around.
People just need to be wary of the reviews that are out-of-the-norm from the majority.
Thank you for sharing. To be clear, and I think this causes an issue with your conclusion:
1. You say an "outlier" review as having minimal impact.
2. Then say a shill review is more offensive due to misleading descriptions of experiences and looks.
I think it needs to be clarified that the review is being condemned for the very reason you state in your conclusion. The reviewer has items listed in his review that are not on her menu and provides a description that is absolutely not her.
We are looking at different sides of the same coin. You worry about spending $ for experiences/looks that are misleading. I would prefer that Scarlet Red never be put into a position to explain her menu to someone who felt he was misled. Misplaced anger, in whatever form, should be avoided at all costs.
