I'm assuming that since herpes discussion is rare here, 99.9% of you guys have never caught it from a Kgirl who's fucked 1000 guys. is that a fair statement?
...whether or not you've even seen a provider ever. Ever dated someone and did some LFK/DFK? Shared utensils with a family member? Chances are, like 85-90%+ of Americans, you've been exposed. HSV-1 and HSV-2 are super common and while there are steps you can take to minimize its spread, people can be infectious without overt symptoms.
Most ppl with HSV-1 and HSV-2 don't have any clinical manifestations and if you get it, you probably won't either (there are factors that increase the chance though - say you are immunosuppressed for whatever reason, older age, etc). A minority get some clinical stuff (an outbreak of cold sores, legions, etc), that usually quickly resolves without further issues. A further tiny minority need to be on antivirals mainly to control outbreaks. Forget hobbying for a second. If you are so adverse to HSV, you shouldn't be dating anyone, period. Or sharing utensils. Or a variety of other things. Sure, by seeing a provider who sees a high volume of clients it probably increases your risk of exposure, but that point is moot given how I pointed out how common it is anyways. I work in the healthcare field, but a quick google search with verify everything I'm saying. http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/condition/herpes-simplex-virus Stay safe and don't flip out.
