Bookers may want to think of better names; DoDo?

Dodo has all kinds of bad meaning associated with it. Bobo, Coco, Momo, Yoyo, Zozo ...

Some of those names sing to me. But I can't take the lady seriously enough to see her if booker names her like below. Well, that is unless she looks hot or has a good reputation.

Bobo: Um, OC Bobo had good rep and really enjoyed her. Any new Bobo would have to earn it.
Dodo: Well, obviously.
Fofo: I don't want to eat fofo for breakfast.
Hoho: Too demeaning.
Momo: I don't want to see Momo no mo'. Yeah, there was a Momo. No wonder I haven't seen her.
Nono: No, just no!
Popo: No sirs, I definitely won't want to meet the popo.
Soso: Well, obviously.
Toto: Maybe misconstrued. I don't like it.
Vovo: Kind of demeaning, but I am all for the vovo anyway.
Yoyo: Kind of an interesting name. But sounds much too YMMV for me.
Zozo: Even worse than Toto. There was a Zozo too. Now you know why I didn't see her.

Stage names for foreign actors

It's a very general thing.  

It used to be that nobody would bat an eyelash for "Steve McGarrett" to be played by "Jack Lord" but it could get a comedy club chuckle to note that "Chin Ho [Kelly]" was played by "Kam Fong."  

Many (most?) of us here know the western canon of given names and can come up with plenty of comfortable aliases. Matt Damon + Robert Redford = "Matt Redford".  Many (most?) of is here know a small handful of Korean given names (from K-drama or K-pop or whatever) and would be in a pickle if we had to Korean-ize our real names or even come up with a decent Korean (or Chinese or Japanese or That ...) alias.  

I think that some of the girls pick a Korean name and try to westernize it: Hana becomes Hannah. Soon-hee becomes Sunny. Min-hee, Minny. Mi-jung, Megan. Eun-ha, Una (a nice Irish name). So-yi, Soy or Soi. Etc. When you don't have an easy match, it's off to the dictionary: Princess, Queen, Cherry (maybe from Chae-won?), Apple, etc.,  or the Arts and Entertainment lists: Victoria, Adele, Ivy, ...

And then there are the cases you mention, made up of easy to pronounce syllables. At least it was DoDo and DooDoo!  

Sometimes I do ask about their name, just as a topic of conversation, but it's not about her name, it's about HER. A beautiful K-girl by any other name would still smell as sweet.  

All I know is, I love the K-girls.

Speaking of Chin Ho, Daniel Dae Kim. I remember watching him on Lost with my Korean GF

and having her comment on how bad his "American Accent" was when he spoke in Korean.

I guess it's one of those things an American person would never even think of.

I do notice it when in Latin America though, my Spanish sucks, but at least I don't have that horrible "gringo" accent jaja

One place in NYC, Asian Bunny, tried naming their staff Red Bunny, White Bunny, Blue Bunny ... Now THAT was a disaster!

Very insightful read. Forgot about the pickle of naming.

Thought bookers are trolling me so I made a public service announcement to help them avoid faux pas.

I do everything with good intention. Behind each word is a serious thought. I am seriously serious.

At the end of the day, I fully agree it's not about her name, it's about HER. Sometimes I see a Kgirl and forget the name I want to see at the end of the day.

Did I say I have never ran the other way from any Kgirl yet? A few times I thought a mamasan stands before me, I still gut it out. It helps if the mamasan is very horny to make my day at the end.

All I know is, I too love any Kgirl as full of mystery and naughty excitement as night is dark.

My very first Kgirl experience was . . . .

with a Momo.  It wasn't great and I almost went back to indies exclusively right then and there, but a friend urged me to try another Kgirl, and that one was off the charts.  The rest, as they say, is history.  I saw Bobo frequently when she was Sugar in OC.  Don't know why she came back to OC with the goofy name.

It's not only NYC, but there was a NYC agency that repped girls that they named Aya (ah-yah), Cya (see-yah), Dya (dee-yah), etc.  In Korean, "-ya" or "-ah" is kind of suffix put on names to designate proximity or location. (If that's not quite accurate, keep in mind that I'm not always paying full attention to my K-girl's language lessons :-) .)  

Sometimes I'm referred to as Imp, but sometimes I would be called Imp-ya. So, that agency was basically naming the girls as A, B, C, D, ... which become Aya, Bya, Cya, Dya, ...  

(I don't remember an actual Bya and I don't remember them ever going past Dya :-) .)

Thanks for sharing that.  I know the girls you referenced and wondered why, but I never made it around to asking how they got those names.  As a later post said, these girls can kill you, and Aya almost did me in.

I don't know if we're talking about the same Aya, but she became my ATF for awhile. In her case, I think she got her name in a much different manner.  

After our first meeting, I left the apartment, hit the pavement and started running up and down #th Avenue screaming, "Ah yah! Ahhhhhh  yah! Yah-eee Aaahhh Yaaaaahh! Aya! Aya! Aaaaayaaaa!" I was bouncing off buses and taxicabs like a steel ball in a pinball game, climbing light poles and swinging from traffic lights. The next thing I remember was waking up in a subway car with a huge grin on my face.  

And that's how I think THAT Aya got her name.
