Yes you can....cut and paste the name into the Send line

...or type it in, it does work.  Thanks for the responses so far.

That was an old rule that was changed nearly two years ago

You can send PMs to AND from aliases. You dont need the envelope. Just scroll over the alias name, and click on it and the PM window will open. If that doesnt work you can copy and paste like the other poster said, but normally just clicking on the name works.

Just to clarify: are you asking, in effect, if we will work for a trade?

Because 'gratis' generally means free.  And no, I won't work for free.

But you mention my bucket list, and yes, there are things I would trade for
