i was wondering how if you ever exchange servises for your time for example if you car breakes down and you hav one of clients as a mechanic would you exchange his time for yours and if so how often or do you rather not mix the two

I know of a few ladies who have done a swap of services but they actually knew the person very well. Having a stranger doing anything for you that could turn out less than what you expect with no recourse makes such an arrangement less than practical. I would rather pay someone than swap services so there are no hard feelings.

I take each situation on a 1-1 basis and evaluate the whole situation. Some see this as a big no-no and love to downgrade those who do it.  I personally do things for me and don't care what other's do as my bills are my bills.  Why not help other's out and clearly that is what this is!!

I am currently looking for a dermatologist (needed pretty badly) but so far no luck...again take on a 1-1 basis.

it can work well depending on what you need and the person you are dealing with. Over the years I have gotten vehicles, cosmetic procedures such as Botox, Juviderm, Laser Lipo, and Electronics. I don't barter unless it is something I know for a fact that I would spend money on, but want to save that money for something else...even just putting it in savings.

Just be careful "how" you advertise for it, because you will have cheapos wanting to give you bs like Coffee lol. Yes, one guy actually wanted to trade me a 3 month supply of Coffee. I was like, "Sorry, I drink Tea" lol.

Also be advised that for anything medical such as dental work and surgery, you will need to both up your full names and information in case something goes wrong. If it is found out he is trading service for service he can lose his license, so it has to be on the up and up. My Botox guy brings the needles right to the hotel room being he is from Arkansas and I am in La. He travels with the stuff in a little lunch box with an ice pack, so I never have gone into his office. For other procedures, that is just not possible. I would not want a Dentist trying to perform in a hotel room lol.

I belong to a few barter groups and do a fair amount of trade in my business. At times it works like a charm and it can be a big help with cash flow. As for this arena, I'd proceed with caution. Barter is perfectly legal and accepted. Prostitution...not so much. It sounds so simple, but shit happens. You have to be comfortable with the worst case scenario. While it can work, I agree with Haley on this one. There are just too many things can go wrong.

for dog sitting.

Years ago, I went up north for a few months.
I couldn't take Georgie & his sister Karma with me.

Karma was with me for 14 years before she passed away in 2007
& Georgie was with us at that time for 6 years.

A dear regular client/friend who was a dog trainer...
suggested that he take both of my "babies" for 3 to 4 months
in exchange for a reasonable # of visits that we agreed to.
When I returned, both dogs were better behaved than when I left them.

Although I NORMALLY do not like a barter type arrangement...
in SOME cases, it works beautifully.

I would have never thought this was acceptable for providers... Seems to me it would give the impression that the client is "cheap" (depending on what is being offered in exchange of a provider's services).

But I have nothing against it. Just sounder weird to me. :)

Glad to see the open mindedness...
