Skin--Tan or not

Having been diagnosed with Melanoma last August, I am not able to enjoy the hot Florida sun anymore.  We all know that you look better with a tan.  A groupon became available for Magic Tan (spray tanning) and I purchased it.  My concern: the chemicals used in the product.  The manufacturer is Norvell and the chemical I'm referring to is DHA, Dihydroxyacetone.  I've tried to research this chemical and some say it's ok and some don't.

Does anyone have any firsthand information regarding this chemical and what reactions in your body does it have?  Is it harmful or safe?

Men, do you prefer the natural color of the skin or do you like it enhanced?

Thank you all in advance for your input and I truly appreciate it.

Tara xoxo

I have no experience or knowledge of that or any tanning product.
The only advice I can offer is to see your doctor/dermatologist and ask
Him/her if that product is OK for your skin.
We are all different and for some that particular product may be OK and for others not OK.

As for whether I prefer natural or tan skin, I prefer a lady who is comfortable in hers.
So do what is best for your health and well being, because when my lips touch yours and  my tongue tickels your tonsils  I really do not think I’ll notice or be thinking about your tan or lack thereof.

Hope that helps

Thank you

I have had several issues with skin cancer and always use either 30 or 50 sunscreen as well as wear a hat when out in the sun for yardwork or other outdoor activities.  I would consult my dermatologist for advice on tanning sprays.

it shows me more and more each day why I can't wait to have fun with you and tickle each other's tonsils. You really are a kind, sweet gentleman.  Thank you for making my day.

I know I have the questions in inverse order but whatever.

First off, one must take care of themselves physically. Makes no matter what someone else prefers, a persons health is paramount. Attractiveness is not about skin color, white, brown, yellow, etc but about the person inside the skin. If you are comfortable in your skin it will shine through in your personality.

Secondly, I know nada about the tanning products. Hope your find the answer from an expert and take the necessary steps to protect your health.

but for me I do nothing...

I lost my brother to melanoma cancer after he fought it for 9 yrs about 6 yrs agao
so getting in the sun is just not very wise for me. Plus, I have very pale skin so yes I
do burn very easily.

What I will say is because I don't tan (sun or tanning spray or tanning beds) I have great
smooth, soft skin. I am not leathery at all and very few wrinkles on my face.
Matter of fact I went yesterday and got a facial and they were all shocked for my age
of 51 how great my skin is.  I have very little sun damage and the elasticity is still
phenomenal-plus I moisturizer big time!!!

So my advise...yes ask a dermatologist and do what you are comfortable with.  I
and my clients like my skin the way it is. Be proud of who you are no matter what!!!

I think tans look better on younger girls who still have that young skin.  Once you're in your mid to late 30's, it seems all a tan does is enhance things you don't want enhanced like freckles and wrinkles (men and women).  And as others said, it's just not a safe thing to do.  I grew up at the beach and we used to lather up in baby oil and go hang out for hours and hours in the sun, all summer long.

I don't think tanned women are un-attractive by any means.  I just prefer very little to no tan at all these days.

Be safe.

I remember going to Haulover Beach (when it wasn't nude back then lol) almost every weekend or every other weekend with my parents and grandparents, usually always getting sunburned.  I did the baby oil thing one summer (have you ever tried it with iodine lmao?) when I was in my teens it was like being a fried chicken.

Oh how I miss Haulover (yes, the nude one) now.  I'm thinking of paying a police officer to let me on the beach when the sun goes down lol.

Thank you for your input and I didn't take it the wrong way.  My skin is still very soft but I did notice the spray tan does enhance your freckles which makes it harder for your dermatologist to look at as well.
