I didnt put any contacts in my contact list...I didnt save anyones email address in my contacts...But they seemed to email anyone that I have ever emailed or anyone that has ever emailed me...CRazy!

For anyone that received an email from me this morning.... I am not in London and I have not been robbed and I am in not in need of any funds...LOL Sorry if this stir anybody up this morning..I ahve received numerous phone calls this morning about my well being..Thank you

It was not your computer that was hacked.  

What happened is that your email account has been hacked or cloned.  What usually happens is they first hack the email account, change the password so that the victim won't be able to access her account. Then send mails to the people in the contact list.  

There are two steps to prevent this.
1)make sure you have a strong password for your account containing upper case and lowercase letters, digits and at least one special symbol like #, $, & etc.

2.Better to change your password every 3 months or so.

I changed my password already but a gentleman said when I replied to his email the email address the hacker used to send out the emails came up as return address...almost like they did something so my emails are going to them now....Do I just shut that email completely down and make a new one?

and noticed a post by a gentlemen talking about getting and e-mail from a provider needing help. He said her e-mail had been hacked. I'm wondering if this happened to more than one provider this morning.

I get so many e-mails where someone who has contacted me before has had their e-mail hacked. It always amazes me the list of providers e-mails.

Hope this won't be to much of a problem for you. Everyone realizes you didn't have any control in this thing happening.

They may have altered yours. You should be able to specify what name shows up when you send an email out as well as what return address you want used (normally the same as your email address).

Update!!! Just got off the phone with yahoo and everything is secure again! Thanks everyone!

If one nevers "adds" an emailer as a contact...(in other words, no contact list)...would hackers not be able to send mail through the account (since they use the "contact list")?

Check your complete profile on the email service you use.  Frequently the hacker will add their phone or email address as a secondary or backup email so they can continue to use or abuse your email.

They would be able to send through the account but not to your contacts as you would not have any contacts.  However they could send to everyone you have received email from that you haven't deleted.  However I doubt they would take the time for that.

...a year ago.  Sent email to everyone I still had mail from in my In box.  A girl I had seen kindly emailed me and told me about it.

A few weeks ago, someone did it to my yahoo email and sent emails asking for money, only they said I was in Madrid.  Sounds like the same hacker.  I changed my yahoo password, no more problems.  But, that doesn't mean it won't  happen  again.
