It seems like it was yesterday but it has been 12 years since this tragic event changed the world forever.

... and signed a new lease September 1, 2001. I didn't know anyone personally that perished but mourned with the city like I had lived there for years. I remember the horror of what I saw and experienced that day and still shake, shudder and bawl when I see the documentaries. It never looses its impact on me.

I'm so glad you started this post because I do feel the people of our country have forgotten too easily. We should never forget and never become too complacent with our standing in the world. We should be paying close attention to situations like Syria and not saying "I don't want to hear about it because it doesn't affect my life here in the US" (yes, I had someone say that to me recently). I think the anniversary of 9/11 should remind all of us how much our world has changed and that our country is not impervious to acts of war and terror on our own soil – something many of our parents and elders never thought they would see.

So yes, everyone please remember the innocent victims who lost or gave their lives on one of the most important days of American history. Never forget what they went through that day. Please remember our troops in Afghanistan today for those are the heros of *today* and many of them have given their lives as they fight for our country every day. Please also take this day to reflect on the world and how complicated affairs have become. Think about Syria and Benghazi and please try to remember what 9/11 was and is still about.

Warmly and respectfully to all -
Laney

I was in the air during the hijackings very scary day my thoughts are with those who lost someone dear to them. It is a somber remeberence that those who wish to do us harm are still out there plotting. I thank the fine brave men and women of our armed forces for keeping us safe and fighting for our freedom let us not forget that.
