Hey I am heading to Costa Rica in early Sept. for five days.  Two of them in San Jose.  I'm curious what anybody knows of the scene in the capital.  I know some hobbiests have been there recently.  I'm more concerned with tips on which establishments *not* to visit, as much which are the best.  Thanks much in advance.

WSG has split into the www.USASexGuide.info and www.InternationalSexGuide.info. ISG is indeed a good all around site for worldwide "mongering" but for Costa Rica specifically there is an even better website.

www.CostaRicaTicas.com is EASILY the most complete source of info on CR adult travel. They do have a VIP membership category that costs $39/yr but it is absolutely free to read and post on the vast majority of its various forums. The VIP membership entitles you to access their photo section and qualifies you for a variety of hotel, restaurant & MP discounts that can easily save you more than the cost of membership on your first trip. It also provides access to probably the best "gentleman's" map of San Jose with over 50 adult business marked and actual photos of most establishments. I'll be happy to provide the map for free to anyone here who has more than 15 posts or reviews.

As for the Del Rey, it is widely known but since it has been flooded with newbie visitors to CR who often overpay it is not the place to get the best deals. Compared to what escorts ask for and what you guys readily pay here in the US, the routine $100 per hour asking price in the Del Rey/Blue Marlin may seem like a bargain and plenty of guys automatically pay it. But most of the better girls (not necessarily the hottest) will fairly readily agree to half that much and/or will go all night (aka TLN todo le noche). Many of the really hot looking ones (usually colombianas) stick to their price but often aren't worth it. In fact, a game some vets play is to bet how quickly the chicas will be back in the bar after going up the stairs with some hapless newbie. The reason $50 is plenty to pay is that the cost of girls at gringo MP's generally runs about 18-20K colones ($40) and as little as 10-12K/hr at the tico places ($20-25) and those girls only get half of that.
