Not that easy

I am an optometrist (Europe) and it is not so easy to explain. Lasik monovision could be a good choice, but it depends on your age and your near prescription. If your near prescription is about 1.0-1.75 and the surgeon is going to correct that amount, you will have the same problem in a couple of years, because presbiopia goes ahead with age.
Anyway you should have tried your contacts in monovision to see if it is fine for you. But then when you love your contacts, why not wear the contacts in monovision? There then you have the possibility at any time to wear them both for far. For example in my case: during the day I wear monovision (work, daily leaving), per lo sport (sooker) I wear the lenses for far vision both eyes, because that way I have e better vision (stereo vision).
There are also contacts for presbiopia, find a good optometrist (not the one in a supermarket with low prizes) and look for the options. Anyway, Lasik could be a good choice, but keep in mind that it has its risk, where with the contacts  you can go all the time back. For more specific info you can email me.

Next week Im going for a Mono vision Lasik Surgery
That's where one eye is done to see up close and one eye is done to see far away. \
Wht was your experience ?
Right now Im using contact lenses and I love it.
I month ago I went for eye test & I do need glasses I hate it..
Are you happy with the results?
Thanks Brigit

I did have Lasik on both eyes about 11 years ago.  Wonderful results that lasted about 10 years.  I'm headed in for a "touch up" as my long-distance vision has deteriorated a little bit, and I was thinking about the mono as well.  Please post how it goes, whichever way you go.

Thanks!

With the temporary lenses is working out out really nice Its like not wear anything.
Im going to do it Saturday  the 11th
I will let you know the results.

I had both eyes corrected for distance before they offered the monovision correction.  I have heard that if it works for you with the contacts you will be fine,  the only concern is how it affects depth perception.  The brain is supposed to adjust, but it works better for some people than others.  Sounds like you are adjusting fine.

I had mono done four years ago. Love it. I can see great and still read without glasses. Took about six weeks to get adjusted especially driving at night, but if you have been doing mono with contacts you might not have this problem. Good Luck and let us know how it works for you.

I very glad it worked for you
To be honest I m a bit nervous.

I had mono vision correction about 12 years ago. It was easy and improved sight was an immediate result. it is still working great!

Yes, had it done 15 yrs ago.  It has worked wonderfully.  Your brain does the compensation and it works amazingly.  I have not needed any reading glasses until the last few years, but I'm 60 now.  Make sure they check your eyes for susceptibility to dryness beforehand.  I've had to use strong liquid tears (not talking about cheap Visine stuff) since then, but, all-in-all, I would still have done it again.  I have loved the freedom it gave me, because I couldn't see to, say, read the alarm clock @ night @ about 6ft away.

Not sure why, if you love contacts, you could not just change them to improve your vision? I couldn't use contacts anymore, which I had for many years prior, so I opted for lasik.  After the surgery, I still needed to wear glasses for far-vision, like when driving or searching aisles in a grocery store. If its just age-related myopia (starting @ about 40, where you can't focus on near items, like reading a newspaper), your contacts can still be made monovision as well, and if that's all that is the problem, you are just postponing the reading glasses stage.

As with everything in life, there's always someone with a friend who had a bad experience. I fall into that category. As the last poster said, why not continue with contacts while you can? And glasses can be sexy. Brigit, consider well.
