Often times, when a new lady and i are "getting to know" one another by chatting or whatever, i take out my phone and show pictures of the work i do. I am a chef. Not a great one but i am better than average.  
One skill in particular seems to light up peoples eyes. I can carve fruit into flowers.
On one occassion a lady expressed a desire for me to teach her. I told her i would be happy to but not as part of a date.
She reacted in shock. I couldn't figure out if she was insulted that i would assume she would wsnt me to pay for the opportunity to teach her or if she thought i was being cheap.  
So was i being cheap to think that i should not spend 300 an hour to teach someone something that would cost them 500 to learn if they went to a seminar? Was i just insensitive and did i insult her

Please explain what you think is wrong with my question.

No, you are right on target,  
I have a couple of buddies that hobby, and we share stories and inside information.
We all think that if a provider wants to go to dinner afterward, or wants to go jet ski-ing one day, or boating, or shooting at the gun range, then fine, those are all expensive activities and if they want to go as friends, then game on. But paying someone $300 an hour to hang out and do all those activities is sort of steep.  
I took a provider to the shooting range one time a few years ago, we had a blast.
I really enjoyed watching the range master try to instruct her with her skin tight halter top and massive 38's poking in his face.  
Then we went back to the hotel and started the "paid" portion of our meeting.  
Everyone was happy, win-win, nothing wrong with that

I get it if a provider wants a donation for a dinner date. It's all part of the deal and had been for a long time.  
If i asked her to let me teach her how to do something then, if course she should charge but in this case she asked me.  
I share my knowledge freely. I don't care.  I just didn't want to pay for the opportunity to do it.

I just want our anonymous friend to explain why my question is a joke.
I also want some of the ladies to weigh in.

Well, first I'd like to know if you showed her out of your phone, pics of the wife and kids? Also was she possibly able to catch your real phone number off of it or have you already given it to her? Two, in looking at the nature of the ladies you've seen, do you really think they want FREE cooking lessons in the kitchenette of their $149 a week luxury extended stay? Nada against BP girls, other than you get what you pay for as you've clearly learned, they're there to deliver sex, get paid and get you out the door. To an extent, you answered your own question. Extended date? Cook them dinner. Problem solved! Just don't bring them home. You know. Where you live. Where you have valuables. Maybe a SO. Where you may have nosy neighbors. Capiche?

Since you want ladies to weigh in, I will First of all, thanks. Thanks for posting a genuine question with honesty. it's not (at least IMO, a "typical" question, I like your OP here.  

How you choose to spend that time is
Up to you.   But if you are offering Garde Manger classes I suggest you offer your service as such and not fool the lady.  
How do you know she really wanted to learn how to carve fruit.  
Honestly if you tried that with me, I would have to charge extra for fetish and extra because I'm more then likely higher skilled in GARDE MANGER than you,  and I would be teaching the teacher

If she said that fruit carving time is on her and  time after would be on yours then you know there is a financial time after. So there's no hard feelings these things should be open and discussed. Hurt feelings about such discussions are far better than two people getting angry or upset over a financial arrangement going bad.  I do some fun things on my time but only knowing that they are spending 2 hours of paid time with me after or before. It's discussed openly when plans are made with no hurt feelings.

It would be absurd to pay a lady to teach her a skill she wants to learn, whether you think it's a skill worth knowing or not. When he said that she "expressed a desire for me to teach her" that's a good indicator she wanted to learn. While I agree it's ridiculous to suggest his lesson would be worth $500, your response that you would charge extra because you are likely higher skilled in GARDE MANGER is equally ridiculous. You come across as someone who believes her time is much more valuable than the time of those that choose to see you. I am glad the ladies I have been lucky enough to spend time with are not as full of themselves as you appear to be.
