Even before I moved here, I usually stayed with family and friends, so I don't have much experience with hotels in Ft. Lauderdale.

A friend of mine is visiting and he's asked me to make some recommendations.

Can anyone suggest some nice Ft. Lauderdale hotels that are luxurious but won't break the bank?

...... especially since the holidays and high season are upon us.

The best advice is to go to your favorite hotel search site and plug in your preferences.

Anything nice on A1A/beach is going to be $$$ to $$$$$......can be higher if there are any "events" going on.

If you are not on the beach, the price drops to $1/2 to $$1/2, but the luxury will drop as well.

Many hotels, especially on the beach also charge for parking which can be up to $30 a night as well and many also charge a "resort" fee (Can be up to another $30 as well).

Also if renting a car, that can fluctuate like a yo-yo as well.  Last weekend I rented a car for 4 days for $120, I am coming down for New Year's and 4 days is running close to $500.  So no car for me this time, however there are many other transportation options to get around.

It's one of the nicer hotels downtown on Las Olas.
