Previously known as Cowford, Jacksonville is the largest city in the US, land wise. You're in a good spot for food and enjoying the sun.  Several Triple D restaurants here and places to enjoy a drink next to the ocean.  I would avoid swimming in the ocean as Jax Beach is popular for fishing which means sharks like it too.
We're home of the River Run, Jax Jazz Fest, Lynard Skynard, Limp Biscuit, and Jaguars. You're just up the coast from the famous 17th hole at Sawgrass and a little further to the oldest city in the US - St. Augustine.  Enjoy your visit to the "Bold New City of the South".

The Town Center and Baymeadows are good areas. Town center is closer to more shopping ,restaurants, and the beach. Jacksonville is spread out. Most people don't like to drive too far. It is best to have a central location. Good luck.

The airport exit is another good area. Lots of hotels and shopping and restaurant choices. I've used a few of the hotels in that area.

Town Center and SOME parts of Butler Blvd are good central locations.  Butler has a Mariott and a Radisson, LaQuinta Inn, but then a host of lower end ones as well.  Baymeadows is going down hill, IMHO, although there is a very nice Embassy Suites there.  A few other mid range ones too, but a growing number of low end ones.  I disagree with the Airport suggestion, that's only going to cater to a few, but again YMMV.
