One of our favorite words in the hooker business is the word "fuck".

But, do you know where and how it originated? Read on. . . . .

Sometime in the 1300s and 1400s in old England, and under old English Common Law,
when a man saw or had sex with a woman who was not his wife, it was called "carnal
knowledge" and it was considered a criminal act.  Criminal acts, even back then, were
prosecuted in the Kings' Court, sometimes with extreme punishments to the man, such
as castration, or death.

The Clerk of the Court would enter the charge into the ledger as:

"for unlawful carnal knowledge"

About a hundred years later, and to save time, the charge entry was shortended somewhat
to "f.u.c.k." which meant the same thing.

Another hundred years passed, and the periods were simply omitted, thus
"fuck" was entered into the charge ledger.

Over the ensuing centuries, the word has become slang, vulgar, humourous, salacious,
and it's become a colloquialism with many meanings. The most common meaning
of course, is in regard to sexual intercourse between the sexes.

So now.......you know the rest of the story!

It's just one of those delightful old Anglo Saxton words that got a bad rap along the way.
