I called a provider on a Tuesday for a same day appt. Never heard back from her which is fine as I made other arrangements. On Saturday, this provider calls me while I'm at home. I was lucky to get to the phone first and had to stumble through the conversation. I would hope that most providers do not return a call after such a long gap unless requested to.
You are right to be upset, but not just at her. You need to be upset with yourself also. In this day and age, I can't believe someone would not have a dedicated phone for the hobby stashed someplace that they just turn off when they are not in a position to take a call.
She was wrong to call back after such a long period of time. When you leave a voicemail always state the timeframe you wish for someone to call you back, be specific as to the when and not when.
1. NEVER call from other than a secure phone (i.e. ideally a cell phone that only you have access to).
2. When you leave a message, leave the date and time of your call and the (time) "window" of your interest (i.e. "looking to see you today if available - if you aren't and can't call back today, disregard. I will call you again later".
3. Following step 1 and step 2 should prevent a recurrence of your situation.
To call a guy back a day later without a request. Again you might want to leave a message with a best time to reach you or get a seperate phone for your fun hobby.

I know I have less experience, but I'm single and even I know that a hobby phone is a must.
Live, learn, and modify your protocol. You haven't given enough detail for us to be able to determine whether or not you left a message detailing when was a good time to call you back, gave a timeframe when you wanted the appointment, etc. So, you should be upset due to the situation but you should have been smarter and making it so that this wouldn't be such a big deal if it happened. If a provider calls me back late? I get a VM on my hobby phone and maybe decide to see her after all sometime later! No harm, no foul.
I was clear in the message that it was for the same day. I'm definitely not a rookie but this is the first time this has happened to me. Live and learn.
And I Still believe any Provider that knows what she is doing knows better then to call someone back on any # unless she was asked to do so at a specific time. I happen to be single and own my own business so I don't really answer to anyone but myself so when I give a provider my # I will tell her she can call me at this # anytime (within reason of coarse)and I will be the only one to answer. Now that is of course assuming I would like to here from that provider again. A call from a provider w/o permission to contact you can cause a multitude of problems especially for anyone with a SO. I've been outed to my family by an x so at this point they are of little concern to me as they are all to aware of my hobby life. Doc
