I am in deep with my studies and I need some help with your brilliant minds out there. Looking for someone who knows the time line of Appeals in the Appellant level? I need IL law not Federal!
I will love you long time if you get it right.
Let's see who the smart ones are!! Thank you all JC
The right to appeal an adverse decision is granted by the Illinois Constitution. Generally, the appellant must file a Notice of Appeal and pay a filing fee within 30 days of the final order.
There are exceptions that extend the time, such as a motion for sanctions or post trial motions. Be very careful on procedure -- once the time is up, it's up for good. The timing of the notice is jurisdictional -- meaning the Court of Appeals cannot hear it even if it wants to once the deadline is blown.
