And this is at least 6 years in the making and what's done is done.  Plus a lot of the information in the article is outdated.  I can vouch for that.  But who knew that the media doesn't always report all the facts??

If there was ever a reason not to give personal information to sites like this, here it is. The idea that this is simply about taxes is pure fantasy. Under the guise of responding to human trafficking, any and all of the information this site has will be made available to the authorities.
  I've never bothered with sites like rs2k for just this eventuality. I have never been turned away from a lady I wanted to see because I wasn't a member of a site, either.

i read the artice. they can't get her for what they want so they are going after taxes. recall that's what they did with Al C. you can read about it online or just watch the untouchables movie.  will her computer and/or filing cabinet get confiscated? she has a lot of client info. i always feared something like this which is why i  never signed up for rs. it wasn't worth the risk. and people wonder why so many of us don't want to get verified by 3rd party services? get a couple of references from newbie friendly providers and use them instead.

Can I assume that they are no longer able to verify hobbists who are RS2K member?
