Hi Chi-town!

I am planning to visit later this month and I am wondering where I should stay. Is it ok to stay near the airport, or is it too much of a drive for most of you? I gather that the Magnificent Mile is the city's downtown area. Is that correct? I would prefer to stay in an area where parking is free and plentiful. Let me know what you think.

I will be in town over the weekend, Friday through Monday either the 23rd or 30th. I wish I could stay longer but I have to be back to school Monday night.

Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you all!

xoxo,
Morgan

You can pick either place. If you stay by the airport you'll get travelers and conventioneers, if you stay downtown you'll get more locals. Personally, I'd say stay downtown, since you can actually find things to do when you're not working.

As for free parking, there's no such thing here. :-) It will definitely not be free either in the downtown area or by the airports.

There's lots of places by O'Hare with Free Parking, just have to get off the main drag.

There are some nice places on Cumberland and 90 that are easier to get to then Ohare, and the location is close to both MAJOR expressways both north/south(294) and east/west(90).  Easy on and off from 90 and no parking fees, add to that the short commute from the airport and you save alot in cab fare and there is a train stop there too if you decide to go into the city.

Certainly there is the airport areas and suburbs.  You could stay in Evanston Illinois.  It has its own vibe with nice restaurants and clubs and you would be very close to getting downtown using public transportation or driving.  Parking isn't free, but it is significantly cheaper than downtown.  Now if you like to get tipsy, I would suggest parking at this garage that is on Illinois street, just west of Clark street in the River West area(downtown) . Very reasonable rates after 3pm ($8)  and on weekends. You can then cab it where ever from there and not worry about getting pulled over if you cross the white line.

Especially on the weekends unless you dont want any calls and just want to sight see.....LOL!  Ohare is your smartest move for such a short trip.  Most guys will be willing to drive 20-30 minutes to see a lady and from Ohare, if you travel 20-30 minutes in any direction, you have a high percentage of potential clients.  Also, if you book your rooms through priceline, you should stay in the 2.5 star category for free parking and free wi-fi!.  This will put you in a Holiday Inn, four points sheridan, hilton garden inn, radison etc....  Anything 3 stars or higher and u pay for parking and wi-fi!

Good Luck!

Seriously, why point out the methods we use to find hotels, and specific hotels that we frequent on a public board?

1. She's not just asking providers, she's asking her marketing base (smart)
2. She's not posting an ad perse yet generating interest (it's called Public Relations and it's wonderful)
3. She's introducing herself, creating legitimacy and a little playful banter.

I agree that a duo posting should be done on the PO board however to do that you need to have your handle linked to your reviews. PM me if you have a prob doing that.

Have fun in Chicago- screen, join P411 and RS2k and make your money.

Thank you for the suggestions guys, I will take all of them into consideration. Also, thank you Veronica. It is very common for a girl to ask such a question in a co-ed forum in Dallas. V is right, I would much rather hear from the guys. I am only speaking for myself, not the provider community as a whole.

I've been a constant local since '05. Helping a girl out is no biggie. I don't have a hat to tip to you, so I'll just snap my G-string ;)
