. . . at Michican Ave. and Chicago overlooking the Water tower is a wonderful place for sushi.

None of the best sushi is close to downtown, and definitely not the Korean BBQ.

For sushi the best place is Itto Sushi on Halsted in Lincoln Park.  It's kind of a dive, but it's where the real Japanese eat.

For Korean you'll have to travel northwest of downtown.  There are many places along Lincoln Ave. as you get north of Irving Park Rd. and they all have different strong points.  Cho Sun Ok is great if you like to fry on the stone plate, but very popular and often crowded.  For late night, the San Soo Gab San on Western is open until 4:00 a.m. and has a banchan spread like no other. If you're a baseball fan, go to Chicago Kalbi on Lawrence Ave., which is a Japanese influenced BBQ place.  It's totally out of the way, but a great place to see baseball players in the summer.  All of the Asian players eat there and often bring their teammates.

I like the place. Nomi is very good.  Unfortunately the best Korean bbq is way on the north side of the city, but NIU ain't bad.

The absolute best Sushi in Chicago is on Rush. It is called Friends Sushi. It is the only place in Chicago that gets fresh fish delivered twice a day. Owner is Paul and he is a great guy. Place is very small and is almost always slammed so make reso.

Union Sushi and Barbecue, just a few blocks off of Michigan Avenue would satisfy both cravings. Also, the Slurping Turtle.

I love any of the Oy Sy restaurants. They're so relaxed and great for people watching on an afternoon.

For Korean, go over to Lawrence to Chicago Kalbi. It's actually Korean run by a very nice Japanese family but it's pretty authentic and has these little private booths that you can get frisky and full in.

Enjoy!
Oy Sy!
