I've been using the anonymous internet and Quest testing thing for my regular tests, but it gets expensive. I've heard some good things about Howard Brown Clinic up on Sheridan, most notably that it's pretty cheap, or even free for HIV tests. Does anyone have any good/bad experiences? Can they also test for HSV and HPV?

I've heard mixed reviews of Howard Brown...

FOR EVERYONE:  The Chicago Recovery Alliance offers free HIV/Hep-C/Syphilis/Gonorrhea/Chlamydia testing. I don't think they offer HSV & HPV.

FOR MEN: Howard Brown offers free HIV/Syphilis/Gonorrhea/Chlamydia testing at Steamworks (Belmont & Halsted)

FOR LADIES - Female residents of Illinois under a certain income level are eligible for free 'reproductive health' services through the Illinois Healthy Women's program...you can fill out an application for a "Pink Card" during an appointment at any Planned Parenthood location.

FOR INDIVIDUALS 24 & UNDER - The Broadway Youth Center (Broadway & Belmont) offers free STI testing & medical services.

See the link below for a comprehensive list of free/low-cost clinics that offer STI screening in Chicagoland.

I've been going to HB for years & have always been happy with my experiences. They offer free testing for HIV, Hep C, & Syphilis; low-cost STI screening & treatment; & low-cost Hep A & B vaccination services. They also offer walk-in testing, which is nice if you have a hectic schedule.

I use to go to Steamworks to get tested. They have their own in-house STD testing they do every Tuesday. If you are a member you can be tested there everyday from 7-10 pm.  I believe they use some outside resources from Howard Brown. They do have a counselor that they work with from Test Positive Aware Network. I don't know if he is still there or not, but he is very friendly and open minded. I haven't been there in a number of years.

Several times a year.  I simply tell my doc that I have an active sex life. Nothing more nothing less..  The same is true more most ED meds, but people are often embarrassed.  If your married I would not recommend this.

Nope, not married. If I was maybe I'd get laid for free once in a while.

Thanks all!

I've used them several times.  You call or register, wait a few hours or a day, go to a clean professional testing site near you, where probably no one will know you or see you or know what you're there for (because they do lots of types of routine tests), get tested completely anonymously (you don't show any ID ever or have to give them any name -- just a number provided by stdtesting) and then get your results online via secure login/pin that they give you.  The report is suitable for proving your status to others.  Total cost is about $250, if I remember correctly.

Just go to the website.  Check it out.  This stuff is important.
