We would like to read about them as well.

As time moves forward now, into what I like to refer as the "Dark Time"; I'm wondering if anyone has noticed, or feels that there is a "safer method" of setting up appointments?  I myself, have decided that future endeavors will be with established providers with many, and recent reviews by long standing members.  But something a poster said the other day creeps me out.  He said what if a girl gets busted, and LE uses her phone, or website to lure in their prey?  Any ideas, trends, or plans developing yet?

Point well taken.  By the way, if you are, get a life.  If not, thanks.

Link to the new law please? I guess I really do live under a rock... ;)

I think a serious approach might be systematic through a site like this and building risk models to approximately estimate the likelihood of a given ad or provider not being who or what they claim to be. That kind of data analysis though would require a lot of participation both in terms of the reviews on the site (and perhaps by developing an open standard for communication between any other similar sites) and processing time on decent computer hardware, However a system well developed could even handle poisoned reviews which is about the only counter measure they'd have beyond insane real time monitoring/tracking.

I've been thinking about how to approach this for awhile and I think I have a handle on it, but I have no idea who to contact in order to get sample data to begin development and where to deploy once it was actually in place.

If you need totally safe, never a concern; stop the hobby.

If you want to have a very good chance of safety, go with well reviewed gals, that do not seem to have issues.  Watch the boards and the innuendos.  No that is not an Italian suppository.

Who was the best at verifying you? If she as that thorough with you, can you assume she was with her other clients?

If so, see her. If several are that thorough, see yhem. If no one meets your standards for verification, drop the hobby unless you feel lucky.

Read reviews. Don't just assume that if there are a lot, she's safe. Does a lady just "use" RS2K or P411 or does she check thoroughly. One thing I like about P411 is thatthey notify you that a lady has checked on you. Verification can work both ways. Do your homework.

Did you get all that, officer, or are you too busy helping Dart run for mayor?

Are you building the flux capacitor? Does Scotty need more dilithium crystals? Is the Continuum Transfunctioner still missing?

I am an attorney.  Although I'm not a criminal lawyer, I have been at this for a while.  So, I know every word of this law and the law it amended.  I know what has changed, and what has not.  I have read the case law and know what has been decided on this issue and what has not been.  I know what I would argue if I were defending a case and what I would argue if I were prosecuting one.

Not a lawyer?  Here's one thing more thing I did:  I hired an attorney specializing in criminal law and got his lowdown on what's up and what isn't.  The cost was a $300.00 retainer.  His name is Joe Roddy, in Chicago.  If you want some peace of mind, or at least answers, call him or any other qualified criminal lawer and ask your questions.

Long and short of it -- as others have said, you can't reduce risk to zero.  No strategy will avoid LE if they really put effort into it.  No seemingly high risk activity will always result in a bust, either.

Lay low for a while.  Let others do the research.

lol perhaps or perhaps it would be expected real le would have a similar response.

It is similar to the mathematical/statistical models used to filter spam (applied to fake ads), detect fraudulent bank activity (applied to fake reviews), and those to predict forecasts like in the weather or stock market (applied to predicting when/where the next sting is likely to take place). Other applications might be developing geographic profiles for the providers looking for patterns and showing how to move away from those patterns to prevent forecasting analysis from accurately predicting their next move based on prior activity.

On the technologies that are fairly available already front I've always wondered why providers don't use encrypted email, I know passphrases are longer than passwords, but I'd think secure communication is going to become increasingly important given current trends.

Their smarts are limited by their budget ours is simply limited by our effort.

Thank you everyone for your responses, including Officer Jack Bag.  After giving this more thought, I realize as we have just learned,  it is very possible that LE is everywhere, and probably/possibly right here too.  The key to all of this is screening.  How do we build a better insolator to keep the bad guys out?  RS2K, Pref411, datecheck, etc., may have to start providing a deeper level of screening than is currently used.  Most of these places ask for employment info, and such.  Maybe they will need to go a bit further, and insist that clients provide more proof of who they are, as well as who they are not.  It may even become costlier to the client to do the homework needed to keep things safe.  These places are pretty reputable right now, and we seem to trust them with the info we provide.  So taking it a step further should be acceptable to most of us.  As with any change, it could open the door to other problems, but if done properly may be the answer.  Just a thought.
