Whether it was fate or extremely good coincidence, I'm glad you were there to help that lady.

Many of us are glad to have met you in Phoenix, LA, or Chicago...you aren't only a great provider but you're a great thinker, great writer, and generous person too !

So, I'm glad you're here for many reasons.  Fate or otherwise...

For most, the first reaction is to turn away from danger. But heroes like you (yes, you are a heroine) react by instinctively helping those in danger. Like our First Responders, you rushed in when others run away.

BTW, did the bus stop to see if the old lady was ok?

OMG  well my first day here in Chicago and decided to go run an errand to Macys and on the way I am waiting to cross a street ....the walk sign comes on and several of us are waiting to go across ...the sign flashes walk but a big old city bus is making it wideturn at the same time and the old woman next to me keeps going right into the bus  I saw her and saw she did not look up kept going smack into the moving bus I barely had time to tackle her around the back of her neck and pull her back before she went under the wheel we both landed flat on our asses it must of been a SIGHT  me in my fur coat and her right on top of me  everyone had their mouths open in shock....thank  God she was just shook up and her arm was sore from smacking into the bus.... she was so focused on the walk sign and not on the traffic  ....so everyone please look up this could of been a real sad story and if she would of went under that bus I am sure it would of tramatized me for ever.... maybe  the only reason I was suppose to be here was to be on that corner  at that time ......so do you believe we are where we are suppose to be in life? I think I need to go lay down  now ....

Glad you and the lady are okay.  And yes, I believe you were supposed to be there.  Fate presents many opportunities for ordinary citizens to help others.

There are a couple of instances in my own personal life that come to mind...

For instance, there was this one time during the holidays about 5 years ago that my grandmother was in from out of town during the winter holiday season when she started to complain about pain in her side while she was gripping the seat of couch.  A cousin of mine told me to ignore her because she's always complaining about something and that it was nothing. Meanwhile, I had just completed a segment on cardiovascular disease and trauma in the paramedic class I was taking at the time and the way my grandma was acting did not sit right with me... Long story short, I ended up calling the paramedics and as fate would have it, I had just saved her from a major heart attack.

Another time, a couple of years later, I was out driving around and for some odd reason I wanted to stop by my moms. I called ahead to see if she was home. She didnt pick up (she wasn't home) so when I got there I simply let myself in (because Im special like that and I have special access and as I was walking through the kitchen I noticed that there was a faint scent of something burning. I turned towards the stove and noticed that the burner was on and the tea was no more..

But I definitely believe in people and their capacity to affect the world around them.

Victoria, as a practictioner of an ancient and honorable profession you bring joy and companionship to many lives. Today, you saved a life. And it even goes beyond that singular life.  

The bus drivers life would have forever been effected by a tragic accident.
The family & friends of that driver would have changed
The family and friends of the life saved would be altered
The people witnessing this event could have seen a horrific accident. Instead they observed a selfless act. Perhaps they have been enriched.

You are a hero !

stopped but the driver did not get out I am not sure he even knew she  had slammed into him  I think it was his normal stop it all happened so fast

If the bus was turning after the walk light came on, the number should have been report to the CTA.  If the bus was attempting to complete the turn, the lady should have known better.  Thank goodness you were there to save her.

Yes, I believe in Fate, and it was fate that you were in the right spot at the right time for that lady.  My favorite book of all time is Fate Is The Hunter, by Ernest K. Gann, I re-read it every couple of years and learn something new each time.

You are one of the good guys loved my time with you  your a special man in my book!
